I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone getting a riot buddy for being good at the game. Easiest way is being a content creator, but I got mine just by being nice in games! I had a teammate who was throwing but stayed positive, and at the end of the game one of my teammates just said “enjoy your riot buddies” to me and another teammate for lifting everyone up! Super awesome stuff; its nice that they reward people for spreading positivity in their game.

I met a riot employee at subway. His son went to my school and as he walked out he had a riot hat on I was like do you play valorant? he was like I work there. I was like dude thats awesome can I have riot buddy he was like sure let me see what I can do. ( I was banned at the time for a year btw) He gave me riot buddy and 2500 vp. I got my acc back in december and it had it and I was so happy.

Me and my friend got ours for helping a noob in the game, cheering him on when he got kills. Turns out the other two people on our team were rioters and we had no idea until we got the buddies. It definitely made me more invested in the game when positivity was rewarded so unexpectedly.

It seems scarce with Rioters on EU, at least from my experience. The first time I met one though was a pretty bad experience, still remember it pretty clearly, was on icebox and he gave our sage a riot buddy because she sounded cute. The other time were a duo of Rioters. They were pretty chill and down to earth. We were playing on Breeze and the enemy team got toxic and hostile towards them though for no reason - still, they were composed and deflected it in a pretty amusing way. Wish I had the chance to play with them, they seemed nice.

You can also queue on the Sydney servers, there's a studio there who were bought by Riot last year. You don't need to top frag and you don't need to win. You need to be a good team mate and friendly - the kind of player that would be a pleasure to play with. Many rioters don't have RIOT prefixes on their names, and will only give out gun buddies if they're sure you're not just acting nice in order to receive a buddy. The purpose of the riot gun buddies is to reward the behaviour they like to see in Valorant. So being friendly and a good team mate (and being lucky) is the best way to get it.

I’ve seen a lot of trolls, and toxic people who own the riot gun buddy, so at this point it feels like toxic people only owns it. I had a sexist guy on my team that started calling me slurs, and sexualizing me after he found out I was a girl, and I kept on ignoring on his flirty comments. He showed me a gun buddy at the end saying because he has the riot gun buddy he can do whatever he wants and not get banned. I met a riot dev in a game later that week and asked if thats true, and thankfully it wasnt, but at the same time once a riot buddy is given it can never be taken back.

I play on Sydney Australia servers, I see roit buddies fairly often, obvs not a tone but it's not to rare to see someone with it. Yet my main account is level 220, my old account which I lost was level 150 and I have an alt account that's level 70. And I've never seen a roit employee

Im not kidding when I say this but back in 2022 I got into an unrated game with a 4 stack, 3 of them were girls and one of them was a guy and all 4 had riot buddies (All of them had their names hidden & after the game I checked their names, and the guy had riot in it) . Im not going to assume, but at the same time I'm going to assume. But all I remember were that all three of the girls were so toxic so I think we got a riot simp.

You dont need to get it ingame. The VAL discord has a bunch of devs if you just scroll down in the roles a bit. Thats how I got my buddy, I gave them feedback on a map to someone who designed them and they asked my for my riot id.

This is why being nice ALWAYS pays off. It would have been nice if i got a riot employee in a recent game where i had my ace stolen and i was SOOOOOO chill about it. It was pistol round and i was destroying the other team, and then i got my ace taken by my teammate and the enemy team was texting likw "bro, stolen ace, wtf," etc. and i just texted "i dont mind. It still made me happy to catch the 4k :)" i was also complimenting the other teams gun skins and stuff like that. However, I'm not gonna say that i deserve a reward just for doing something that i should always be doing😅

They can send it to you as long as they have your riot id, the dev I met friended me so he could see mine, but you could also receive one if the dev knew your id.

Statistically the majority of players are in silver and gold, so yeah I would queue swift so you can run into (theoretically) more riot devs.
