I don't think it's really necessary for new developers in 2022 to learn SVN, other than organizations very slow to migrate, but I think junior developers will probably never see old SCMs like SVN, CVS, MS Source Safe / TFS, Clear Quest, Mercurial, etc. Git is of course the standard, maybe Perforce is used in video game development with large versioned assets. Regarding Java, there is no recommended IDE like for the front-end with VS Code. IntelliJ seems to have win those last years after long years of Eclipse's domination.
