Just came across your videos and wanted to say God bless you and thank you for being straightforward. Some people might not realize that this is more information that most will ever give on this platform! This is a true roadmap, been in devops bootcamps for a year and found out it wasn’t for me so I decided to switch the SA. Thank you !

Very helpful and honest information. I've viewed way too many "AWS Architect in 90 days" vids. I have over a decade of IT management experience; and you are spot on about "staying" current, as I fell behind and am rethinking my career, from a people management role to more technical (cloud). I will continue watching your content and hopefully connect. TY

Thank you so much Greg for taking the time to layout a roadmap for newbies like myself. I currently have a few years of help desk experience and A+ certification. I have been out of the tech game for a about 3 years now and decided to get some training and try for something more interesting this time around. Cloud seems like it fits that bill for me. Will hopefully be AWS Cloud Practitioner certified in the next few weeks here. Thank you again for the roadmap and setting realistic expectations!

Hello Greg! This video was on point, it really captured my experience with Cloud to a T! This came at the right time as cloud started to pull me into different areas such as observabilty however I now see the need to finish up on my associate level to really build that base and validations. Please keep these videos coming. P.S. I hope you have a segment for those of us who are working in the field and need that extra instruction & tips to level up. Thank you!

I called it the 'Applied Knowledge' concept. Check out the requirements, for the job, and then teach yourself. Look how in-demand the job is and if it's highly available. Most high level IT careers have world wide availability via major metropolitan (small cities and small towns as well). In the past, for a job I applied for, I saw a requirement for active directory (one time), did the interview, and got the green light for the second one for a week later. I was on youtube, forums, and bootcamps for that whole week. Got the job!!

i have a suggestion to the point of being obsolete, its more like a soft skill, you need to improve how do you learn and reconize patterns, my point is if you really understand the subject and understand the motive why they builded that way gets more easy when they update a solution etc. Im not a expertise but i think this helped me on my way to achieve some certificates. If there's some error in my text i apologise, english is not my native language. peeace ✌

Hi, thank you for such a detailed explanation and setting the expectation for the role. I have a question - I am a computer science engineer with 2 years developer experience and 4 years of product management experience. After a big career break, I started refreshing fundamentals and while preparing for AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification, I fell in love with the idea of becoming a solutions architect. I noticed there are Associate Solutions Architect roles in which candidates are in training phases for about a year. Are the associate roles available only to recent graduates, or can anyone apply? What level of expertise would someone applying to associate level role expected to have? Any tips and insights do you have for me?

Hi! Firstly, this is a great video and I learned a lot from it. I've heard that when starting out, getting straight into solutions architect role is tough. So, is it wise to start with Dev-ops, gain a few years of experience and then move towards solutions architect roles?

It's ideal to bring some experience into a Solutions Architect role since you need to know how to architect things based on best practices. I like your plan to build hands on to develop those skills.

Wow this video covered so much i have my AWS-SAA and I been trying shadow devops folks but my manager wants me to get my solutions architect professional first. My background is in software engineering but my goals are locked in to get the Aws professional architect cert followed by aws secuirty specialty before the end of 2025. I definitely prefered to get more hands on experience at work but what would you recommend in this situation? i never worked as a solutions architect and really trying to hone in on getting a good foundation before switching gears and going after security certifications.
