I went to that race with three friends in 2016 and it was also hot then. If you ever get a chance, you need to check out an IMSA race at Road America at Elkhart Lake Wisconsin. They don’t require individual passes for anything. A race ticket for the weekend get you anywhere you want to go including the pets. Road America is probably the most beautiful track you’ll ever go to.

Really enjoyed your video. My favorite driver is Lando. I've been watching F1 since the early 70s. My first driver that I followed was Niki Lauda. Other favorites over the years have been Gilles Villeneuve, Jacques Villeneuve and Jenson Button. Fortunately, I've gotten to see all of them drive in person. I've been to Long Beach several times when it was an F1 race. Later on it was at Indy. I'd love to go to Spa, Silverstone, Monza, Monaco. But if it was only 1 race it would be the Dutch Grand Prix (Grote Prijs van Nederland) at Zandvoort

What a great trip. I've been to most of the F1 races since 2011. My kid went this year. Ticket prices are getting out of hand. Seating on grassy hillsides used to be much better. Race organizers have added more bleachers so overall there's much less GA access to trackside. That with much higher ticket and parking prices and the experience is losing its luster. If you haven't done it yet, you can pay to walk up the stairs of the F1 Tower. It's pretty cool.

@@Weretherussos Absolutely...if your main interest is the race itself then watching on a big screen on your own couch or in a bar is the way to go. If you like all the other stuff - and big crowds - then go in person. My kid loves F1 so he likes being there in person.

Not really shocked at the prices. One thing I miss about not living in Austin any more is the free perks I used to get while working at Google. Like free SXSW and F-1 tickets. Your Story Teller rig absolutely was the way to go. I feel like your off grid capabilities had the A and C RVs beat by a long shot. Oh the saying about the weather in Austin is “just wait 15 minutes and the weather will change” Great video Russo’s !!

Great video, one of my favorites in fact. Would love to go to a F1 race (Fernando Alonso favorite driver) but would probably have to live on ramen noodles for 6 months. lol I'd suggest maybe taking in an IMSA event like the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta or the 24 hours at Daytona. Really fun to watch them run at night. Mid Ohio Sports Car course is really nice as a day race but Sports car racing in any form is awesome. Again really enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing the event.

$875 for camping ouch, I hate to guess what you paid for GA tickets. I went to most the F1 races at Indy (luckily I was in Alaska for the F0 race in 2005) and it was under $200 for camping AND GA tickets, that also included the pit walk on Thursday. For reasonably priced races where you can camp I'd suggest catching an IMSA or Indycar race at a sports car track.

I have been wanting to go to that race. My nephew lived in Austin, so I should have gone a year or two ago. I was thinking of camping, but $200/night is outrageous! Las Vegas is coming up, and I have a friend there. Still, not willing to pay the ticket prices when, as you say, you can see it much better on TV. I have a F1TV subscription and their coverage is excellent. Miss the track experience and sound, though, not to mention all the other activities.

What was nice is with the radio you get the same broadcast as F1TV so you can hear the race as you’re watching that one section.

That's great. I wonder if I couldn't just listen via earbuds from the F1TV app on my phone? Then I could also watch the video to see what's going on at different areas of the track. I tried an app once to listen to the audio of the Indy 500 when in a sports bar, but it wasn't synced with the TV.

think you will do a comparison of the Hilt and EarthRoamer now that you have used both. Looks like the Hilt can check all the boxes as the Earthroamer at a tiny bit better price point.

Not sure - we haven't had the chance to take out an Earthroamer so we'll have to see if/when we can get our hands on one. We've been in them and the level of fit/finish and craftsmanship is awesome but it's also significantly more expensive. I think a similar type build is about 250k more than the Hilt.
