@lithari14805 ай бұрын
Well, performance wise the 7800x3d is faster because of its 3d cache, but that is also why it generates 10c more heat, i would personally give up the extra fps since most the games i play give more than enough for 120fps, most of them anyway, going from a 7800x3d to a 9700x, would lower the fps, but also the heat....and watt usage, less heat is always better.
@faruknane5 ай бұрын
@@lithari1480 I think you are wrong about watt usage. When its to gaming, 7800x3D is more efficient uses less wattage (check cpu watt usages for gaming please, not the system power because 7800x3d has higher fps and gpu renders more frames, thus gpu uses more watt when you pair it with 7800x3d, the power bar is deceiving. I told this in a comment before). When it is productive work, wattage is the same (88w). So lets make it clear that 7800x3D uses less power overall when you look at both categories. Yet, the pefm in gaming is superior for 7800x3D. In productivity is behind my just 7-8% percent when both cpus using the same power). For heat part, for 9700x the temp is decreased because of redesigning parts in the cpu, not because it s efficient. If you give same power to both cpus, they will produce the same amount of heat, but 9700x is better at making the heat go away faster thus lower temp. If you are in a room, they will release the same heat since they use the same wattage. Please get a brain

Just going to touch on why i really don't like the usage of various games for benchmarking purposes.. As you touched on before, some engines seemingly do not scale well based on clock speeds and only actively scale based on core/thread counts.. This is completely down to how the engines work overall, i.e what kind of job scheduler they are using. A lot of engines opt into "chunking" where they send fairly large instructions to each and every thread, which will give fairly consistent results but will be COMPLETELY bottlenecked by the amount of cores/threads you have on hand.. clock speeds DO NOT matter here because of the size of said job chunks. This is why you see certain games between 9700x and 7700x have a 8-12% difference and below 1-2% in the next game while the 7700x3d will crunch instructions simply based on the core count (as well as the engines scheduler)... It is completely down to optimization and overall design of an engine... If you want to really test cpus then use Doom Eternal, they have an insanely efficient job scheduler that spreads out instructions across ALL cores and does not end up choking said threads... in terms of behaviour it works closer to a very efficient video encoder (e.g cinebench), the gpu will be the deciding factor here instead. What i would like to see is games like Doom Eternal with potato settings (to remove gpu limitation as much as possible) to actually gage how performant these cpus really are when compared to each other.. i am also VERY curious to see if a game like doom eternal can actually gain a lot more off of PBO being in use because of how their engine works. And just to press this idea... i have a 6900x and a 5600x... everything on low in eternal i get anywhere around 250-400fps at 1080p with 99-100% gpu usage. I then tried the same 6900x on a 7700x and was anywhere between 320-500fps, again with constant 99-100% gpu usage. I could probably down the resolution even further and the divide would only get larger.

@@l--l1443I would switch in a heartbeat if they announce an x3d version of the 9000 series. If the 9000 can maintain cool temperatures while getting close to x3d frames then imagine how good the new x3d chips will be in the future.

Yes.... I completely agree... My needs are both scenarios, and I don't care about 5-10fps more/less. 9700X is almost perfect. + I'm not gonna need to buy better cooler than one I have.... Noctua chromax NH-L9x65 CPU cooler, in a Asus Mini Tower Prime AP201 Mesh PC case. I'm glad I waited for 9000 series. After CPU, next on a list is GPU. I was thinking about ASUS RTX 4070 DUAL 12GB ? I prefer Nvidia for GPU.

I seen by now some of these videos from other creators and it just occured to me they are leaving the door wide open for future 9700XT chips down the line.

Keep in mind that the 7800X3D went to as low as $310, and can only go down in price, even though motherboard prices probably won’t be changing that much 11:27 oh boy I didn’t know 14nm was making a return /j

the 5800x3d is still 330 bucks so by the time 7800x3d drops in price youll probably want a new platform anyways

Microcenter has bundles for both 7800x3d at 599.99 and 9700x at 449.99. I game at 1440p so I feel more inclined to choose the 9700x for the better price for not much difference between the two chips at 1440p. I'm curious on anyone's thoughts on this. I'm wondering if I should even upgrade from my 10700k at this resolution.

So basically the 9700x can compete with the 13600k/14600k and thats about it... Oof..

Didn't you switch the 7700x and 7800X3d in the power consumption graphs? I have never seen a 7800X3d consuming more power then a 7700X!
@asmod4n5 ай бұрын
thats because the 7800x3d can utilize the GPU more, resulting in higher power draw of said GPU.

The new AMD 9700x it not worth the price point right now. Just stick to the 7800X3D for gaming.

After looking at Kyle benchmarks it seems all AMD on the Zen 5 CPU all AMD was worrying about is power Consumption then the IPC performance uplift in gaming since the Ryzen 7 7800X3D bet the Zen 5 Granite editions. If I was in the market in building a gaming system all over again on the AM5 platform the R7 7800X3D and if I was on a budget the R7 5800X3D or the R5 5600X3D. once again Intel failed with the 13 gen and 14 Gen issues as well AMD falling right behind them. AMD Should be ashamed of themselves with the Zen 5 lineup. Kyle nailed it towards the end 7800X3D is were to go for gaming needs on the AM5 Platform.

I would wait the better part of a year for the initial price to go down. Plus any hardware issues will have been dealt with or revealed by then.

*What is your workload?* _Gaming_ or _Non-gaming_ or _mixed_ ? *Gaming:* No, 5800X3D (or 5700X3D) is a good upgrade. 7800X3D if you "need" AM5 but I'd wait till December for 9000X3D first. *Non-gaming:* 7950X, 7950X3D or wait for 9000X3D CPUs to see how the 9950X, 9950X3D, and 9800X3D compares.
