Super sick paint scheme on the rifle. Great video on the tripod mod too. Thanks for sharing.

Ok so 3 years later... is this still your goto system? How has it held up? Etc..

Yep!! Still going strong and I haven’t changed a thing other than I picked up a second heavier tripod so I can digiscope/video my hunts! I’ve now taken over 20 large game animals with this system at long range.

Any reason you couldn't just mount the quick release plate direct instead of adding a picattiny rail if you don't want to drill your stock?
@highcountryoutdoor7 жыл бұрын
Peter Stahley you can bolt the quick release plate right into the swivel stud mounts. The problem is that only provides a single attachment point and the quick release plate will move/rotate under stress and you have no place to attach your sling.

Pros/cons of this setup vs something like a bog pod? Tripod adapter vs. a saddle or clamp system?
@highcountryoutdoor4 жыл бұрын
Hands down significantly more stable than bog pod and a clamp system. I used both prior to this setup. There simply is nothing better and more versatile. Watch my 2019 deer and elk hunt videos where I show how o used this system to take those animals. Almost hands free...

Awesome. Do you also use this tripod setup for binos? If so, what attachments do you use?

is that a proof rifle I love the set up will be doing the same.
@highcountryoutdoor8 жыл бұрын
phil yea it's a Proof Research barrel. The barrel and action was done by Elk Meadow Precision in Utah. I did the rest of the work on the AG Composites CAT 700 stock. Love this gun. It weighs 8lbs with the scope and shoots 1/4 MOA. This tripod system really is the most stable shooting platform I've ever used! I shot my first long range competition this weekend and up taking third place overall as a rookie.

How much weight will the tripod support?
@highcountryoutdoor7 жыл бұрын
Chris Crawford I use it with my comp gun which weighs 16lbs. I wouldn't recommend any heavier than that.

Dakine I’m not sure I understand your question but yes the gun can be moved up or down. Here’s a video showing some of the shooting positions I use with this tripod. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpOxl56JfMmprqc

compare to bipod and sandbags, does shooting on tripod shift your Point of Impact?
@highcountryoutdoor4 жыл бұрын
David 326 no it does not. That being said. If you’re shooting from a bipod and typically “preload” the bipod you could see a change in POI when switching to a tripod. Every gun is different right?! The carbon fiber gun used in this video is ultra light and I have to hold down the tripod when shooting to see the greatest accuracy to prevent the barrel from jumping under recoil. My heavier guns and comp guns don’t require this and I shoot them “free recoil”. Overall you should not see any change in POI unless for some reason there is a change in your equipment whereas the barrel is making contact with either a mounting stud or the stock.
@David-lq2xg4 жыл бұрын
@@highcountryoutdoorThank you, great video/info. I just got a carbon fiber tripod for shooting/hunting, , I'm also using an arca swiss plate attachment. in sitting position my point of impact is 1 moa high at 300 yards (compare to prone on tripod). My rifle setup is only 8.5lbs in 270win. How do you hold down the tripod? hand on scope or tripod head or tripod leg? I will try to put more downward pressure next time.
@highcountryoutdoor4 жыл бұрын
David 326 I would guess that you are getting muzzle rise. Do you have a muzzle break? I hold down my hunting rifle by holding down the tripod leg. It really kind of depends on the situation. Sometimes when sitting it’s not practical to hold down the tripod with my hands so I’ll use my feet or my pack. I typically try not to put any downward pressure on the gun barrel. If you had to you could put down pressure on the scope if needed.
@David-lq2xg4 жыл бұрын
@@highcountryoutdoor My rifle doesn't have a muzzle brake, it must be the muzzle jump caused shift in POI. I will try to put more pressure on the scope. thank you.

Hey folks. Here’s a link to another great product that I’ve now switched over to from this original video. It’s made by Salmon River Solutions (SRS) and it’s a Arca picatinny rail that mounts directly to the bottom of your rifle. It’s the lightest one made and allows you to rock a bipod and tripod if needed! www.salmonriversolutions.com/product/srs-arca-pic/
