If you’re looking for a Bark River try the essential. It’s the smallest knife I’ve found so far with a full four finger grip it’s around 6.25” long with a 2.5” blade. There may be more, unfortunately I can’t afford every Bark River I want. Also for some unknown reason every time Bark River has a decent sized knife the crowd wants a bigger version, it’s difficult to be in the right place at the right time sometimes.

I have never pulled the trigger on any Bark River. One amazing little work knife to look into is the Mantis from Very Good Knife Co. It carries so well! The kydex is flared to make it easy to re holster in pocket and even being small and light it is beefy enough that i feel like i can work it hard. Plus the price is fair. He has a few others i would love to get as well.

@@sharpends4279 if you drop him an email he will work it in. I have always just waited. He usually has a different model available every other week. I want to get the adventure jr and tradition next. Lol I think that tradition may be a handy knife especially for meat processing. Lol

I'm completely sold on small fixies. I'd rather carry 2-3 small specialized fixies than one larger multi use knife. The only time I'll carry a larger blade anymore is camping or backpacking, which I rarely do any longer. Not sure if you use a blade coating for your Bush Baby, even with a patina it helps with rust, but it's very easy to make a homemade blade butter that has worked for me since the '80's. Get 1/3rd cup of food grade mineral oil and 1 oz cosmetic grade bees wax (both cheap on amazon). Food/cosmetic grade so you don't have to worry about chemicals in your food prep. Just melt and blend then put in small tins (also cheap on amazon or hobby stores). Should be chapstick/blistex consistency when it cools. Just dab a little on your finger and coat the blade after you clean it and you won't get any corrosion. One little tin will last you a very long time even with daily use. I made a triple batch last year, will probably never need to make another batch in my lifetime, even gave a few tins away. Substitue neatsfoot oil for the mineral and you have a great leather sheath treatment as well if you're worried about chemical transfer onto your blade from comercial products.

Thanks got the great recipe! I use wicked wax on the Bushbaby at the moment which is probably very similar, but I'm definitely going to give your suggestion a try.

Neat collection you got there, lots of variety in shape, ergos and steel. I'm kinda curious to get your opinion on the viper handy, i think they are working on a kydex sheath, but the current batch is with leather.

Thank you!! I just looked at a lot of different sites and their selection. You're absolutely right, that seems like a great knife. I'm very tempted. Going to put it on my list to get and hope for a sale. Thanks for the suggestion!; I've very give a viper. Very interested in getting another European, Italian, made knife.

I do like your choice of knives, however for outdoor work I don't know where my loyalties lies. I just dressed a pineapple and was happy that the knife had a four inch blade. . Awell presented video.
