Hi Geek, great ideas. I have been trying to set a automation in Tuya App which will send me notification when my garage opener been opened for over X min. I used > automation A> door open> delay X min> notification. But I have an issue that even I have the door closed after opening for less then X min, automation A still running and still send me notification. I tried add another automation B to disable the automation A when the garage door is closed, but I still get the message from Automation A. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Jacky

Thanks so much. I think i had fallen into the ‘not using the app to any of its potential’ brigade. The so is amazingly simple, but there’s lots of tricks here I just had no idea were even there, but once you know they are, or how they would help for an everyday scenario, it’s a game changer. Great video! For the PIR, is it possible to add a condition for it to trigger only after a certain time? For example, let's say I set one up near my living room door. Ideally if it's during the day, I want it to switch on some lights at certain brightness levels. At night I'd like that to be a completely different configuration.

nice video to show the capabilities of the app. I personally struggle with the huge delay of my tap-to-run widget, when I use it after a period of no action. I usually run around 10 seconds in darkness, before my lights will turn on, if the widget wasn't touched for a certain amount of time. Every consecutive instruction performs immediately but the first one always keeps me waiting xD

Previous pagesIt's as if hitting next just wipes my selection. I updated the app, no change... So I loaded the TuyaSmart app and the results were identical. Any thoughts?

Hi Mr. Geek Street. Thanks for your video, I'm new to "Tuya Smart" app and got some valuable hints. However I'm strugling to connect my heating panel to the application... I was trying EZ mode without any success and found here the AP way; after selecting the device hotspot and step back, as you describe, the application keeps trying to connect to the device but finally throws to me a "wrong Wifi password" regarding hotspot. It never asks me for any password though. Do you have any idea what could be behind this epic fail? Ahh and btw, thanks also for that clean british accent, helps a lot ;)

Bit late but here is a great tip from someone who give tech support for such devices. Adding your tap-to-runs to Google Home Create tap-to-runs for all your desired settings (all on, all off, certain color modes or any specific combinations) and give the tap-to-runs a name you would tell Google assistant to activate it. If the Smart Life service is added to Google Home, you can use these as scenes in a custom Routine. "Hey google normal light" as a speech command will activate your tap-to-run "normal light" from the Smart Life app. Do this for all your tap-to-runs It can be a lot of work if you have a lot of lights and plugs etc but it is worth it. Love the video!

Great and comprehensive video! But I'm a bit confused now. I bought my first smart socket and I'm playing with automations. And automation like "if socket turned off then wait 10s and turn it on" works even with phone (and tuya app) off, but automation like "if power is less than 10W then turn it off" works only if the phone is on and tuya app is on the screen (can't be even in background). Is that normal? I couldn't find any information about that. What is point of automation when you have to manually start app so the automation can proceed :-)?

Thanks for the video. So I have the flowing scenario, and need help to try and overcome my issue. I live in South Africa, and we have a thing called loadshedding, where the government is not able to produce enough electricity, so we run on a schedule where you get 2 hour power cuts on a schedule throughout the day 1-8 times depending on the stage of loadshedding. Now my issue, I have a very simple task where my smart plug turns on at 1pm to run my aquarium light and turns of at 9pm. Now let's say we have loadshedding from 12pm to 2pm, the trigger fails, and the plug does not turn on... And vice versa for turning off, resulting in the plug staying on after the power comes back on. What I need is a way for the divice to be on if it is between these time periods. Can this be done? Any other ideas?

Group the bulbs - then set the scene of the group of bulbs using the group itself - that should work. The only issue you might have is group doesn't support bulb scenes. Other option is set up a automation or TTR that does them all separately and another to change out of music scene - then call that from Alexa or Google etc.

On my smart recessed lights I can actually change the color within the tap to run settings, but on my strip lights I cannot. It only defaults to the last scene I had chosen in the device’s menu, or the last color I had selected when I choose the color mode, etc. This REALLY stops me from creating different lighting scenes. I have done this a few times. But with different methods 1. Simply setup your model with identical credentials and everything remains working as is. 2. (Only works if old model still functions) setup your new modem however you want. In the tuya app individually remove a device, it will then begin to fast blink. You can now pair to your new modem.

Great video, subbed your channel. the thing with 5:55 is that if you use google assistant or amazon alexa, the devices from the other home will be recognized by the assistant. The net effect is that you will always be turning on and off lights at your parents house by accident. I've had to remove my parent's house from the smart life app for this reason

I have a consumer that works with varying power. The socket has power monitoring. I want to implement a scheme to monitor if in a period of 10 minutes, the power is below a certain limit, to send me a message. I tried several options, and although my logic is correct, smartlife does not comply with it. I set an automation to start at reduced power and wait 10 minutes, then send a message. And another automation that monitors whether there is a return of this power to normal levels. In which case the first automation is disabled. The logic is correct, but still, the first automation manages to send its message. How to make it work.

hi, i have a new product line of BLE landscape lights, which which with tuya smart home app. there are RGBW, and can be grouped, controlled individually, etc.. which is great for landscape lighting, i am looking to see if this could be used on say and large bridge, with lights on the top and bottom. all doing potentially different things, color mixing, static colors etc. currently this kind of system would be dmx. with the advent of BLE it would be great if could kind of integrate the two. it would mean righting scenes and animations, but easily..

I don’t know if this is an iOS issue or a Smart Life update. On tap to run, when choosing a light, I can’t select a specific scene like you can. I can choose mode then I have “Switch, Mode, Bright, Colour Temp”. In Mode, I have “White, Colour, Scene, Music”. When I select Scene, it uses the last scene I was on, so I can’t do, for example, a campfire colour scene with glowing orange. Do you know how to get the specific scenes?

Your videos have answered a lot of my questions! Thanks! However, are smart life automations stored on the cloud or locally? Will they work without your phone at home? Without access to the cloud (ie if LAN is on but internet goes down)? Your wall switch hack is great - just want to make sure it will work as long as there is power in the house for the lights and router. Thanks!

Thanks for the comment, i'm guessing your AC unit is not smart. Get a smart plug this will enable you to turn it on and off keep in mind that you have to leave the AC in the on position. Also you could get a temperature sensor so if it reaches a certain range it turns on and off. Hope that helps.

I like smart life the only thing i dislike about the app is the RGB control. Per example if you tell your google assistant or alexa to change a light to purple, the color its not going to be purple its going to be pink like neon pink, this could easly be fixed if we could create scenes and change their names, you would just create a scene choose a mode called "Static" and you could handpick the color, brightness level and saturation. Then you could say change the light to "Static purple" and it would go for the color you have chosen.
