Sometimes I look at spider-man and ask myself "what's the opposite of plot armor?" Dude regularly humbles other superheroes jut is just as often gets beat up by treat level thugs. He's smart enough to event web shooters, spider tracers, cures for supervillain mutations, but can't get a job anywhere. Dude has like 12 love interests, but the worst dating experience. No wonder he's a comedian, comedy was invented to cope with pain.

Josh Keaton is great for 616, but perfect for Ultimate. I always imagined Rino Romano for 616. Before Bendis and Slott turned Spiderman(616) into a clown who annoys the reader just as much as the villain, the dude was genuinely funny. Spider-Man would roast his enemies while he's beating their asses. Spider-Man was always meant to be a badass who told jokes to upset his enemies and maintain psychological control over the situation. Ultimate Spider-Man is my favorite version of the character(it's a 3 way tie between him, Pre-Civil War 616, and Tobey's Spidey.). Bendis used to be good. Bagley will always be the definitive Spider-Man artist for me. If Ultimate Spider-Man didn't have his "No kill" rule, he'd bully Kingpin into suicide without even having to touch hin.

Ultimate spider man is easily my favorite version of the character besides the main one. He really feels like a teenager. He’s more aggressive and impulsive like a hormonal teenager would be. He isn’t perfect and he can make mistakes but he still does his best to help people however he can.

im rereading the ultimate spider-man run right now, and it has some of my favorite spider-man moments of all time. plus the art is top tier through the whole thing, and everyone talks and acts like a real person in it. lots of love to the mainline continuity, but i think marvel editorial has been fucking peter over for the last 15 years for no reason, and i grew up seeing the artwork of ultimate so it is super nostalgic. i wish bendis had even more freedom to tell a longer and more full story of peter, but it will always be top tier comics to me

Not gonna lie, Ultimate Spider-Man is the best Spider-Man run of all time. Why couldn't the Ultimate Spider-Man series be true to the comics? Follow up Comment: I ultimately decided to go into the app and find the comic you were referring to and was pleasantly shocked to see I *REMEMBERED* the very first issue! Apparently it was the Very first Spider-Man Comic I ever read! My awareness was extremely limited at the time as I was only like 6 or 7, and it was only in my position because the grocery store had stacks of copies at every register they were giving away to anyone that was interested! At the time I was bothered because issue 1 was only the origin story and none of the actual “Spider-Man” stuff. (And I had already seen the movie, so I was hoping for some Spider-Man and not just Peter Parker) But I’d *always* wondered where that series went or what it was called so I could read it properly (now that I’m older) so Thanks a bunch for bringing this comic to my attention 🤩😁 Update: I’m mentally voicing JJJ as JK Simmons. We had enough of Highschool life. Only two things he did during his Highschool life as Spidey, meet up with other Superheroes or just dealing with common crime. His College years, he just graduated to fighting his own super Villains
