Great for intermediate to advanced levels. For beginners or people who aren't able to surf enough to maintain surf/paddle strength, I think the best options to train on land between sessions is good base of cardio fitness and then focus on rear delts.

While I think these exercises are good, I don’t think they will translate very well to surfing as they are not specific enough. I would recommend next to doing general strength and stability exercise doing exercise that mimics as close as possible the positions/situations we assume when surfing doing eg narrow push-ups on a bosu practising pop up on land on a small mat lying on your belly on top of a balance board whilst paddling agains a resistance band…

Besides one's usual land regimen, i paddle in a lake when away from the beach: laps broken by duck dives. End of laps sprint to spin around (both sides) into a takeoff crouch on your board underwater, then regain prone. Do bails and swim to retrieve and remount board from both sides.. Just a common sense re-creation of what is required in the surf but without the actual surfing, which can be somewhat replicated with a surfskate. Changing surfboards keeps it interesting, and using your smallest board on your last paddle before a surf day sets you up to feel stronger when you go for a real surf.
