If you hold the jar so that it collects water flowing down stream you will get even cleaner water because the current will prevent some sediment and etc from entering the jar. Do another one of these!

Hey man, for better results with drinking surface water try the sawyer mini... It's a submicron filter that will literally last you a lifetime. It's super packable. Comes with a little squeeze bag so you can fill a canteen with it, or you can drink straight from it. However, I'm going to reiterate that no matter what filter you have - you will always need to disinfect the water. I found some really neat chlorination tabs that work a charm. One little tab brings my 40 oz bottle up to city water standards (submicron filter + 2.0 mg/L free residual chlorine). You just have to wait 30 min before drinking. Some people like potassium permanganate puri tabs, or iodine. I just prefer the taste of chlorinated water over those types of tabs. You can always boil the water too, though. Also, you want to try to find clear, cold, flowing water to fill from. I spent a full two days out in the wilderness backpacking and used the above method - did not get sick. However, I also avoided exactly what you did like the plague... You really have to think on a submicron level (viruses & oocysts). Any bit of raw surface water you get on your "potable" works is contamination. You should have thoroughly cleaned the lifestraw before proceeding. Any time I used my bottle to hold raw water for a bit, I'd stick the bottle on the burner for a bit to sanitize it.. I would not have drank out of the straw after dipping the drinking in in raw water, unless it had been sanitized first. I hope you recovered quickly.

I know this is one year old but to help you with eating fish that has bones in it is to take your fork or hands and flake off some meat then the bones will normally get revealed and you just pick them out, I recommend for a really good fish get a red snapper and keep the skin on and put lemon juice in it then sprinkle old bay or whatever seasoning you want on it then put it skin down on your grill, then when you are about to eat it spread a little bit more lemon juice on the fish. :)
