I love my 17FB, I built mine off a LH R700 and to get it to feed half decent I have to be careful where I place the round in the mag. Friggin great little cartridge.

Was your R700 a fireball from the factory? If not, did you modify your feed ramps?

@@mountaintacticalcompany no mine started out as a 223rem. I have not modified the mag or the feed ramp at all yet. I used it this winter for coyotes and had no issues as long as the place the round in the mag a little back from center of the mag and this spring I’ve used it on gophers a little bit mostly just single feeding it.

Could you put the cartridge further back in the mag and have the front part of the mag acting like a feed ramp for the cartridge. And that ramp is then being pushed down from the bolt when it slides over it. One spring for the ramp and one for the cases. A two part mag if you will. 🤔 Really just guessing. But i will follow this project 😉👍

Basically, a little kicker at the end of the mag to line it up with the chamber? That's a great idea!

@@mountaintacticalcompany Yes. The problem with Tikkas is that all have a long mag with or without inserts. So why not use that extra space to house something that lines the cartridge up. You seem to be resourceful at making custom parts. This build is interesting. Cheers from Sweden 👍

@@mountaintacticalcompany if that rifle could talk my grandpa bought it new I was 9yrs old in 77 killed my first ground hogs with this rifle it's the first one I've handloaded for in 1977 she still holds about 3/4 groups at 100 but she's showing her age I still hunt with her an the old weaver k10 fine line scope. I guarantee you will love the fireball

G,day Mate I've been thinking about doing a 17 Fb in repeater form just watching the round go up the feed ramp, would the pressure as the projectile hits the ramp be enough to push it off axis to the case thus off axis with the bore being such a small projectile, case mouth issues is another one. Cheers

Any one tried a sako 85 that’s got controll round feed and a extra short action and mag I’m currently looking at building a 17 rem or fireball

This video makes me want to SHOOT!..Great video.. You would think with all the fireball love some company would manufacture the 3 rifles in right and left hand magazine feed and be done with it...something like a Remington model seven or a Tikka... CZ made some nice 221FB and then stopped..Ugh!..
