For the first combo, on the opponent turn, you actually can summon Oak and Ash instead of Ash and Poplar, because Oak can grab Poplar to hand instead of summoning it and because you grab Poplar to hand, on new chain link you can special summon it and since you already have access to Poplar follow up anyway, you can instead grab Kurikara from your Ash.

Yup, you can do that, but then you're either left with a 2400 ATK Apollo (instead of 3200) OR you don't have Linkuriboh on the field to protect Apollo. In exchange, you gain a follow-up card through Ash. Debatable which one is better really. I'd lean towards your version, but an extra negate on Apollo can be worth more than a follow-up card (which you could prob search for through other means if you really need it)

Christ I can see why people were surprised when Snake eyes released with Poplar. Deck is super consistent and a huge value deck of pumping out a bunch of monster.

I would disagree on the super consistent part. Without bonfire opening the 2 card combo is pretty rare aswell as your options to extend

@@poro9084 No. Your main and best one card starter is snake eye ash. And that is only played at 4 copies if you play one for one. There are other cards that can also do a one card combo like all the diabellstar cards or populus. But both of those will end on a weaker version of the Ash combo. Without Bonfire the amount of possible extension is also limited. Basicially the deck is decently consistent but the insane Boards are inconsistent to achieve. What actually makes this Deck so extremely strong is its Insane Recovery and Grindgame while also having layered interruptions.

In the first combo, you can instead revive Oak and Poplar instead of Ash and Poplar. Oak can still activate its effect with a full field because it also can add the card back to hand. As the chain resolves you will be linking them off, making room so on resolution you can still choose to summon Ash to search for a follow-up/Kurikara instead of using another Poplar. Ash will be on the field for Promethean Princess in this case. Hope that's useful 😊

Another good tip is that if you get nibbed and you haven’t used ash’s SS effect, your flamberge is in the S&T zone and your field spell is set up. You get a free special summon and token to go into plays to then summon your ash again to continue combo. The deck has gas!

21:40 why not wait on the linkuriboh until they trigger Princess? Then you can princess target poplar and something else then chain linkuriboh so that you don’t lose the targeting protection with elf?

I don't like linking off Elf unless I know I need some extra attack on Apollousa. I prefer to make 3 mat Apollousa under Elf to farther protect Apollousa, or just holding onto my Masquerena and going into something like Underworld Goddess or a Knightmare if I already have Baronne and Savage. Being able to revive Masquerena or Formula on the following turn is also really nice. It can also let you dodge Called By on Maxx "C" which is always fun. Knightmare Phoenix is also great for extra draws, chumblocking and can be summoned under Flame Princess, revived off Amblowhale, and provides some much needed backrow removal. I think every build should be playing it. Linkuriboh is great but Phoenix can also just make Apollousa impossible to destroy by battle. ;p

Thanks for the guide, and hopefully this doesn't end with Elf getting banned. IP + Elf + Goddess have been my bread-and-butter backup/bonus play for a hot minute in all sorts of decks, and it would hurt to lose. A couple extra tips for that particular play: If you activate IP in response to an effect that summons a monster to your opponent's field, Goddess will negate that monster's effects, even if they trigger on summon. Also, though it's usually not ideal, Goddess summoned under Elf is some peak annoyance for your opponent. Immune to everything that doesn't target, and can't be targeted til Elf is dealt with, and IP's destruction protection.. it's silly.

Question: how would you deal with something that can't be targeted or destroyed by card effects, such as the opponent having Eternal Soul (which protects Dark Magician) in back row (and other spells/traps) combined with Dark Magician the Dragon Knight (which protects all of the back row, and acts as Dark Magician while on field and/or in grave) from destruction?

You can make this board arguably even more broken, instead of 4 mat Apo, summon it with 3 and use the Formula Synchron and Ash to make Samsara Sorrow Cat, grab Poplar, summon it and quick Synchro into Herald of the Arc Light, basically trading 1 effect negation from Apo for an Omni/Floodgate

Yeah, destruction effects are already looking to be a liability. I've already started focusing on monster theft and alternative forms of removal(i e. Shoving things into backrow). If Apo Turbo gets big, decks on Spell/Traps might have to start using those more aggressively. And the "monster as backrow" mechanics also make Cosmic Cyclone go a lot harder than usual.

Elf is fine since the deck obvi has room for it in the extra, but it seems quite win-more tbh. If you’re going full combo interrupted, being untargetable isn’t going to be a difference maker. If you’re just linking it off you’re not getting grind game value either. Elf is banned in paper for being significantly above the power level of a standard link 2 in a vacuum, and for its interactions summoning back merli/diviner etc that enable crazy plays. Here it’s just being made essentially as a link 4 that protects from targeting for a few moves until it hits the grave. Again, it’s hard to argue the card shouldn’t be played, but I also don’t think it makes any in game difference.

You only need either Ash, Bonfire, Wanted or Diabellstar to start the best ones. Even Poplar only let you combo... whats your problem?

I got 3 Ash, 3 Poplar, 2 Dstar, 3 wanted, 2 bonfire and allot of the time I only open up with one and it gets negated It’s like my opponents get the crazy awesome snake eyes hands all the time that can play through hella hand traps and I get the. Normal Ash gets negated and pass
