People need to remember that an area is a novelty. You move ANYWHERE it'd be great for a time, then days in that place will be the same as it was were you came from. Were it'd be better is if the place is drastically better than where you're from, but day to day life wont feel as great as it did when you craved moving there.

Madeirans are very far from a progressive, tolerant society and are very attached to an old, very backwards, uneducated way of living but the island has great infrastructure, absurd natural beauty and much dignity. It's diametrically opposed to mainland Portugal.
