That is a great idea! I never thought of rehydrating the meal by putting it back into the pot. I have the 600ml Toaks pot. I will give it a try. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks man! I'm not that keen on cold soaking because I like a coffee in the morning but this will be perfect. I have a kovea stove so should be a sweet combo with that 650ml pot for solo trips.

I have the toaks 650. Almost got the 750. Good video man. Beautiful backdrop... Canada?
@JustinOutdoors
@JustinOutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
The 750 JUST allows me to cook a meal in the pot, if needed. Still a tight fit though for the meals I eat. It is Canada! Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park. Beautiful spot for sure. You should come hike some trails up here some day!

so compact! im trying to get my cook system dialed down for wct for 2p. im debating between soto windmaster or pock rocket deluxe and msr titan kettle vs evernew pasta pot..any experience with any of these?
@JustinOutdoors
@JustinOutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
Interesting that you ask! I have actually been eyeing the windmaster and evernew pasta pot; both might be purchases I make for next year. I really like the Pocket Rocket deluxe, but the windmaster gets a bit closer to the pot for cooking, which will help with wind attenuation. The difference is probably minimal though. I haven't looked at costs in Canada, but I have a feeling I may go for the pocket rocket deluxe in the end purely due to availability and price. Bother stoves have the great same design and seem rock solid. I think the evernew pasta pot blows the MSR titan kettle out of the water. Lighter, cheaper, snap on lid, and has rubberized handles. 1L capacity of the medium size may be cutting it close for 2 people though, since most meals will probably require 500mL or more per person. If you need more capacity, I'd consider one of the Toaks titanium pots over the MSR titan kettle.

Justin Outdoors Thanks for the quick reply! I went and ordered the Evernew on Amazon 🙈 I didn’t realize the MSR had no volume markers 🤷🏼‍♀️ Amazon.ca just dropped their price on the 1L pasta pot so that made the decision bit easier. Now onto stove hunting.. might have to wait for a sale at Atmosphere, I seen they are carrying the MSR prd!
@JustinOutdoors
@JustinOutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
MEC carries it too and will price match Atmosphere's sales! One of my favourite little cost saving tricks while still getting MEC's warranty.

You should not pour boiling water into a Ziploc bag. The high temperature can cause the material to break down and leech microscopic plastic particles into the food. While Ziploc bags are dioxin free, chlorine-free, and do not contain BPA, it's safer to avoid ingesting plastic particles on a regular basis.

@JustinOutdoors
@JustinOutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
I've definitely looked at the BOT before. It is a sweet little device and weight isn't bad at 138g for the 700mL one. The cost is the tough one for me. In Canada, it costs $150!

@@JustinOutdoors it's on massdrop right now for $85usd after shipping. Whether that works out as a deal will depend if you get hit with customs coming over the border. I have been lucky with massdrop so far. Could also price match amazon's 130 at mec. You're right though, much more expensive.
