Chag panicked in those first two games with Kaz. He is very explosive advantage character, but the character dies due to his bad disadvantage stage + factor in how well Palu can juggle/keep pressuring you easy. Those random Side Bs thrown out by Kaz are very punishable even on hit if your in the air as it happened on time in this set. After 3rd game Chag realized there was easy exploit weaknesses on Kaz and focused on off stage kills where Kaz is helpless at and being more patient in general with the slow moving Kaz It was too late to adjust when the Terry came out who moves much faster.

I would have made the same exact mistake. Kazuya is terrifying. Every character who moves that quickly is terrifying.

Players also don’t know how to play against Kazuya. No idea how that character’s meta would develop from here, most top players are just using him as a secondary.

Not many smash players actually know how to successfully do EWGF and do successful death combo follow ups. All because Kaz requires precise timing and actual Command input. It’s already been over a year and only a few top players play Kaz at this level like Riddles, Tea And Ferps. And if you think about it no Kaz has won a majors yet. Kaz is the ultimate punish character. He’s really good but can also be really bad.

@Joshua Suh Kazuya def loses to Sephiroth. He’s got the range to zone him out. Donkey Kong has way more Mobility than Kazuya and hits just as hard, but it’s kinda equal since DK is combo food for Kaz. Idk about DDD though
