Warrior had shown regret over this speech years later. Warrior in his later years had become a very philosophical and inspirational person to me and his impact on my life I will cherish forever. I feel that Jim Hellwig was pushed into a corner by a group of people who were looking to use his words and statements in a way not intended... I don't agree with the idea that gay people are not humans who are no different than those who aren't gay. The 'they/them' bullshit however..... There is only women and men. Only 2 genders. It's science, not open for interpretation... Jim's point with the gays don't make society run or work, in my opinion means that one's sexual orientation means zero when it comes to societies growing and being successful.. I believe Jim was saying people put too much importance on gays in society then they should. While he doesn't agree a mayor of a city is the mayor.. not a GAY mayor. To put homosexuality in the forefront is wrong. Not wrong like it's a sin, but wrong as in it doesn't matter, putting 1st and prioritize it as more important than the person. Is wrong.

About 34 minutes into the speach Warrior makes the claim that there can be no rights without responsibilities. Now, some members of the audience completely misunderstand this claim. They think that he's saying that a newborn child has to DO something to EARN its right to life. Obviously, Warrior isn't saying anything like that. His point is instead that the newborn child's right to life is DEPENDENT on others responsibility to fulfill or realize that right. And on this point, the prominent philosopher Onora O'neill agrees with Warrior. She says : "every right, by implication, also defines some obligation".
@Demonizer51345 жыл бұрын

Being a progressive myself I also find myself agreeing with him on many points, and facepalming at others. Ayn Rand is not an example of brilliant writing. her works were utterly disconnected from reality and complete nonsense. But appealed to a certain kind of mindset with large ego's. That mindset devoid of empathy and self reflection. One that assumes a persons "common sense" was agreeable to everyone else and unable to fathom when others don't agree. Then started tearing into other philosophies that he disagreed with in abstract terms. It seemed to go down hill about half way through.

Warrior was EXTREMELY disappointed that most people weren't as motivated or passionate about life as he was. That, I think was his weakness. He tended to be a little too biased toward anyone who didn't live the way he did. But that's not prejudice, its just an lack of capability to see things from someone else's perspective. But he said things to motivate people to be better. One of his best quotes ever - "Do the work of your life. Be who you were meant to be".

I think he was a lot more practical in what he was saying. Being gay means less reproduction, lower population, less emphasis on family dynamics and growing into a fully responsible adult. I think the audience believed he was talking about “gay equals satan,” which may or may not be true but the Warrior was not saying that.

It's amazing how much backlash he got simply for stating the obvious fact that heterosexual behavior is more legitimate than homosexual behavior. And isn't it? Am I as a rational person really supposed to believe that man on man sex is just as beautiful as sex between a man and a woman within the confines of marriage? No. We as a society should not stoop so low. It's what destroyed the Roman Empire. We as conservatives need to speak up for family values and tradition. It's one thing to tolerate homosexuality, but by no means should we have to embrace it. I stand with The Ultimate Warrior. Anyone else?

@P.90.603 well there is this thing called the Bible and if you read it, it says things in it pertaining to the subject at hand. Does it say to explicitly hate people due to so and so?
