Nice job. I really enjoy this kind of work, just getting everything running right and nice to drive. Shame about the body work on this one, I have a similar thing with my Polo - it got a cheap once over and respray before I bought it - now got it booked in with someone that looks like they know what they're doing - with a several month waiting time to start the work (and again not cheap)! I like your methodical approach - it's clear you have a background in engineering. Keep up the good work 🙂

Watching this I'm not sure you realize that since these carbs dont have chokes they will run like crap and wont hold an idle until the engine is warmed up.This is normal. I run Dellortos on my VWs and they are almost identical to the Webers. Sequence is two pumps to the pedal then start the car,hold rpm at 1500-2000 for one minute then let off the gas then it will hold idle,slower than normal approx 700rpm and then you can go for a drive. You set carbs adjustment only when the engine is warm.

Despite the language barrier, this was super informative, thank you!

Most of the particles that clog the idle jet are precipitates from the fuel when it heats and cools off. This modification does nothing to prevent that. I can guarantee you will be getting clogged idle jets just as often as you did before. This modification was meant to solve a problem a few Baja off road racers had with a massive amount of dust from following other racers on dry dirt roads.

Job well done sir 👍

As you said in the video; there's dirt getting by the air cleaner. That is a problem. That dirt can work its way into the bowl which has the vein that takes the fuel to the idle jet. Also some of the filters have a rubber gasket which has small loose piece of rubber that can come loose and make its way to the fuel bowl as well. Good luck. This should help with the understanding of the carb works. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKvJYmuJYq2Jhck

Will that fitting not interfere with air/fuel flow into the engine?
@Endfloat Жыл бұрын
It's only for emulsifying the fuel in the idle circuit so I think it'll be ok. I'll be getting Ben to hit it with the tuning stick though.

@@Deckie27 well no, cause there isn't any airflow through there as such, unless there's a leak. It's just varying degrees of vacuum.

You had it all apart, why not spray some carburetor or throttle body cleaner through the idle jet system before using compressed air. No amount of high pressure air will get greasy gunk out of those fine passages. I bet she will run better cleaned properly.
