Lovely dog Cooper. You can see he adores you. I had a cat for 17 years and she went blind about 3 years before. There was readjustment on both but with love and support she still got around the house and even played with toys. She also continued to follow me around the house. I hope this helps.

Both my pugs died from cancer :( so i understand some of your struggles. I have one more pug left who is around 12 and he's obviously very blind and deaf. I think the best thing you can do for older dogs is to spend as much time with them as possible! Always make sure they are not in pain and always have them feel very loved! :)

This is the first video I have watched of yours, I loved it, I also love Cooper too, he’s beautiful. I work from home and have 6 dogs who continuously follow me wherever I am, they keep me company so much. I can’t advise on coopers eyes but one of my dogs is 17 and is almost blind but one of my Bichons which is the pack leader ( over a staffy and a Great Dane / leonberger lol ) and he now escorts her when she goes outside, it’s so lovely to see that he is taking care of her. Beddy's is a company that makes bedding for bunk beds and other beds that are difficult to make. They go around the whole mattress and you only have to zip them up to make the bed. I have never personally had a pet go blind but I have friends who have a dog who was born blind. He actually gets around really well. I think they are just careful to not move furniture around so he knows where everything is. He’s otherwise a totally normal dog. Cooper is such a sweet looking dog. What an amazing lil survivor he is!

I have two almost blind dogs. One had to have one of her eyes removed. Don’t wait take him to a eye specialist. We did that but only after months of going to different regular vets. It’s not their fault but regular vets don’t know anything about the eyes. Once we saw the specialist she put them on drops for glaucoma, removed the eye that was causing so much pain. They are like new dogs, back to normal except they can’t see as well. They even stopped eating bc of the pain, but now they are doing great 4 years later. They are old but full of life.

1️⃣ It felt like Christmas morning when I woke up to a new long cleaning video from you and Ashley 🎄😍 2️⃣ Happy Belated birthday to your beautiful, sweet Gracie June! 🎂. What did you get her for presents if you don’t mind sharing? 🎁 3️⃣ I love your new plates. Are they ceramic or thick melamine? 🍽 4️⃣ Your honesty and keeping it real is SO helpful and refreshing because my kids have had way too much computer/iPod time this summer as we are still unpacking/painting from a big move! 👦🏻📱👧🏻🎮 5️⃣ I’d love to see a closeup of the framed picture in your master bathroom if you’re comfortable ever sharing 🚽📸 6️⃣ I’m curious about the blue rags Chance gets from work...does he steal them? 🤣JK. But I’d love to know the story behind them. 💙 7️⃣ I love how God has prolonged the life of 🐶...but will 🙏 for future wisdom for you all as he continues to decline 8️⃣ I hope you have a wonderful time with your parents!!! 🌻🌻

thanks so much! The plates are a thick melamine, yes I'll definitely do some close ups in the bathroom :) and the rags from the hospital are surgical rags that they will throw out, so we recycle them (so do nurses, reps, and other staff). Thank you for all of your prayers! :) And I still have to respond to your email, I promise I'll do that today!

I think cooper Will adjust my sister had a dog that was blind she just never moved her furniture around and she also put a bell at the door so that her dog would know what door to go to when she had to go out she also hung a wind chime outside the sliding glass doors so the dog knew where to go there ears will be there new eyesight. Just like us humans I have known people that are blind that Adjust very well . There ears are their new eyesight so your dog will be OK he is cute dogs are so great to have I have three dogs and they are my fur babies I don’t know what I would do without them.

I have used a eye specialist for one of my pugs years ago, she had eye lashes that turned in and kept her eye irritated, she was a older girl so we decided to use a medicated drop for her comfort, is it possible your lab may have cataracts, our visit to a eye specialist for animals was well worth it to be able to keep our pug comfortable.

My 14 year old miniature poodle Bailey has been slowly going deaf for the past year. I got him from a shelter when he was 5 years old. He often cannot hear me too well, so when I go to wake him up... I stand near his nose and tap very lightly on his front paws so he's not startled awake. When I want to communicate with him, I get his attention to my face and hands and use hand signals. Nothing can be done for him, so I just hope he does not go completely deaf. He also does what Cooper does and follows me around the house when I am doing chores since I'm the one whose home all day. 😊 Since Cooper still has hearing, maybe if when he is sleeping... you stand near his nose and talk to him in a normal voice so he is not startled awake? I mean for times when it is like bedtime at night or something like that. Anyway, I do hope the vets can help him keep whatever sight he has left or maybe find a solution to restore it. ❤

I hope the eye specialist can help you. There are so many reasons dogs go blind, but if you know the cause behind the blindness, you might be able to help him. On the brighter side, chocolate labs aren't one of the breeds that are simply prone to blindness, lots of dogs are genetically predisposed.
