It's a CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) milling machine - basically a robot router.

I know it wouldn’t mount very high, but what about making a drawer or something for the computer, help keep it from being exposed to the dust?

Chromebooks are basically running Chrome web browser only and all things run in that. It isn't a real lap top.

The X-Carve folks should commission you to design carts for them to sell....that is very well thought out. And I also made the mistake of purchasing a Chromebook years ago....can't scan from it because it's not compatible with my printer. Frustrating!

I believe there are ways to reflash a chrome book with Linux then you could run Linux cnc
