Of the available 1B/DH players who are available as free agents, the most affordable for the Guardians is wait for it...Carlos Santana. If Naylor stays, a combination at 1B and DH of Naylor, Santana, and Manzardo is not too bad. Plus you could play Manzardo some in the outfield as well in addition to 1B and at times DH Jhonkensy Noel.

If the market is 5 years for $100 M. They could get him for $85 M. They are revolutionizing the free agent market. The AL Central is learning the tricks of the trade. 3 of the last 4 standing in the AL in 2024 were in the AL Central. I assert this is not a fluke it is a trend. The best teams are bottom payroll teams or top payroll teams. Teams in the middle are mediocre teams.

So far for the upcoming season, the Guardians replaced all star Naylor with 39 year old Carlos Santana (who's BA since 2020 is .199, .214, .202, .240, and .238) and gold glover Gimenez with a platoon of rookies/underwhelming young players. Somehow, I don't see Bieber, coming off of a major injury, and pitching maybe 100 innings making up the difference.

If we had Yankee/ Dodgers money we could do that. Where does the Yankees money come from that cleveland doesn't have? Steinbrenner isn't writing personal checks for all of these guys. Everyone wants Dolan to spend a ton of money that he doesn't have.

I put the yankees losses on vogt. I love the year he had but his management of the pitching staff was terrible. We could have beat the yankees or at least gone 7 games. Lively needed to start. And he needed to let them pitch 5 innings no matter how many runs they gave up. We had enough offense and bullpen. He pitched scared. And the team can feel that. The Detroit series fucked his head up. He acted like we were facing skubal every game. It's was so sad to see. And then pitching to stanton?? Like omg. Then he said after the series he would do it all the same again. Like hell no!!
@johnbontea135318 күн бұрын
Starting cobb knowing he had 2 or 3 innings max. Trying to pitch your bullpen 6 innings a game. It was doomed from the beginning. And I knew it. He lied when he said he wasn't gonna pull his starters out like in the Detroit series. He told Tom hamilton before game 1

@@johnbontea1353 John you are the first person I’ve discussed this with that understands what I was saying . You do not lengthen the game when you put ur best relievers early . That lengthens it . Then he had that interview where he says you don’t change managing your team in the post season, I would have fired him on the spot lol That’s just me . But I see a huge setback this year . I could even see Jose waiving his no trade . That’s me prob over thinking . But let’s face it we won with no starting pitching last year . Which never happens . Now we are dumping mlb players .

Until the Dolans give up control of the team we are always going to be a farm system team for the real MLB. Getting a star player could mean the difference between playoffs and a World Series Championship.
