Consider this: if there were no economic impact, why would the mayor of Brookpark be so motivated to bring the stadium to his city? The jobs generated from construction, along with revenue from hotels, local spending, and increased income taxes, would directly benefit the city where the stadium is located. Unlike other Midwest cities like Pittsburgh, Minneapolis, and Kansas City, Cleveland doesn’t have a communal fund that shares suburban wealth with the metro area. This lack of shared resources is part of why Cleveland struggles economically, ranking as the second poorest major city in the U.S. Moving the stadium out of Cleveland’s metro area might serve the interests of a billionaire, but it would risk leaving behind the heart of the community that needs economic revitalization the most. Which is the most important area for a city.

becasue 365 days a year events could be happening which brings in big money and employees working , which is why I don't understand why Cleveland wont build a dome stadium in Cleveland, more people working, more events, more money but here is what will happen it will be put on the tax payers to pay for it - the Model law could help Cleveland by putting pressure on Haslem to put more money in the pot instead of Cleveland (WE ALL KNOW THAT WONT HAPPEN)

This definitely will have an economic impact on Cleveland. The city has venues , Rocket Mortgage Field House, etc ., where acts have and can continue to entertain indoors. Just had the Rock and Roll Induction, plenty of hotels, etc. Already other established venues in the surrounding areas. Nobody wants to lose revenue from a big business in their city, unless it becomes a Negative, haven't seen evidence of that yet???

The tax money that has been funding the Cleveland Browns is a county tax, and all of Cuyahoga County has been paying the tax for years now and much more. Of that money comes from the suburbs and not the inner city, so stop it.😮😮😮

The City of Cleveland has been gifting Tax breaks to the Browns, like other big companies in Cleveland, not unlike many cities.. Not particularly the Suburbs. @ShoresyChirps13 сағат бұрын
Tyvis and G-bush are absolutely right. This all could have happened years ago, but the city didn't make this proposal until it was projected that they would lose 30 million dollars in tax revenue. Although I would much rather prefer a dome in downtown, I think Brook park is more realistic since Haslam would own the land in Brook park. I just don't see this happening.
@rpippen34558 сағат бұрын
Sorry, nobody (Cleveland) sleeps on the possibility of LOSING $30 mill or whatever the 'real" money would be. The Owner Haslam ,knows he has Public Opinion on his side, because everybody wants the shiny "new" Toy/ Dome Stadium and probably continued to asks the City for too much, whereas the city has more pressing NEEDS, than a $2 billion playpen. But, as a "Billionaire" he has many Fans willing to HELP him pay for the stadium??? So, forget about pressing needs, so some can go to a Maximum 8-10 games and a concert a year?? Even with all that, the City still trying to compromise and give him Burke Lakefront, he can use his own stadium designs, that's just a rendering on the possibilities of the land..but, if he's still refusing, it's just GREED!

G Bush, I don't agree. Adam is primarily right. We're ALL speculating as to what is happening or when it was happening, behind the scenes, very unlikely the City just woke up to negotiation with a Major City organization (Browns,etc.). If you can't afford $10 beers and $60 parking now...just wait. You'll be watching that dome mostly from the TV, like the average fan, who has more pressing NEEDS!
@deangee31318 сағат бұрын
Why are cities and states begging for sports franchises and paying a lot of money to get them into their city? It's because they generate a ton of money for these cities and states that have these franchises. Remember everything that happens at that stadium is taxed. Gate fees or tax people staying in hotels. People spending money at bars emission fees, parking fees. Every Jersey sold has a tax on it. So stop saying the owner is the only one who profits If that was the case, the cities wouldn't be fighting over the sport franchises.
@DeeGee-i8k8 сағат бұрын
Yes, Cleveland has given some tax breaks to the Browns, but they also collect all the money for parking fees. Special event fees, hotel taxes taxes on the workers at the restaurant. And employees at the stadium, so they get more than their money back.That's why they don't want to see the browns leave But the sin tax is for all of Cuyahoga County.

If you’re going to build a dome I think they’re missing out on a golden opportunity; build it similar to Lucas Oil Stadium but extend the roof down, make the outside decor appear large wooden 2x4’s with a large arch opening in front; call it the Dog House. Make it an attraction itself

Bull said he doesn’t understand why it became a thing that the community helps pay for the stadiums… Don’t buy into that line of thinking… It has always been that way and it’s a good thing. And it goes far beyond sports teams. When a real estate company (cough cough dan Gilbert bedrock…) wants to redevelop an area and make hundreds of millions off the redevelopment, the city chips in a billion for infrastructure… when a power company wants to build a new power plant that costs billions they get half of it in public funds etc etc… why is it that people think that sports money isn’t as green as say real estate money? For example… Anything that brings tourism, jobs, shopping, medical facilities, is good and benefits the city and therefore it’s okay for the public to incentivize the private organization to bring their business their or keep it their… Also, when you have sports teams and tourism venues and things like that in an area, it raises the standard of living and attracts new people to the area, which stimulates all aspects of the economy and when corporations see that they’ll consider moving to those areas as well…

Why doesn't cleveland have a rainy day fund to pay for it, maybe 4 billion like other states/cities. I am a huge browns fan and have been all my life.
