What's missing is his very first mma match against Jon Hess at SuperBrawl in Hawaii. I saw it live. Takedown, knee on stomach, a flurry of punches, and a walk off. He was billed on the flyers as Viktor Gracie.

I remember Jon Hess wanting a rematch and saying that Belfort was loaded up On steroids .. well he was right about the second part. I’m a huge fan of Vitor but I do wonder what he could have accomplished in mma of it wasn’t for his steroid use…?

Vitor could have won in a lighter weight class without "the juice," and he might have beaten Hess without it. I knew guys that met Vitor before MMA and they said he weighed a lot less, but was still very fast and talented.

Vitor was in the UFC in 1997. He was one of the first well rounded phenoms, he was just 19. He was not only a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt, but a Judo Black Belt. On top of that he had some of the best Boxing in MMA, with phenomenal dirty boxing and ground and pound. He used his Judo to aid is dirty boxing in the clinch when he tagged someone, similar to how randy couture would use his greco roman wrestling to apply dirty boxing. He would also use his bjj to help him have brutal ground and pound like how Mark Coleman used his Folkstyle wrestling to apply ground and pound. Super dynamic technically and physically dynamic at 19 years old back when the fighting climate still had one dimensional strikers and grapplers and minimal well rounded fighters and even brawlers like Tank Abbott were still in UFC. And he fought for 20 years.
