These downloadable bird mask patterns are made with cereal box cardboard and paper mache. They tape together quickly, so you can get right to the fun part - adding your paint, feathers and imagination to create unique masks for Mardi Gras, Halloween or a fancy dress party.
You can now find the templates for these three masks at www.UltimatePa...
The birds in this mask collection are an Umbrella Cockatoo, a Himalayan Monal Pheasant, and a Guinea Turaco.
If you'd like to see the video about tape mache, something I experimented with last week, you can find it here: • Tape Mache - No-Mess P...
I used some paints I've never used before when I finished these bird masks, and although they aren't essential, they were a lot of fun to play with. I bought the feathers from amazon.com, but you could make your own feathers if you want to. I have a video showing you how here: • How To Make Paper Mach...
The paints I kept mentioning in the video:
FolkArt Flash Iridescent Top Coat: amzn.to/3WZuPFG
The Crafters Workshop Modeling Paste: amzn.to/3JD4tGc
Metallic Acrylic Paint - set of 20 colors: amzn.to/3wRnI7G
Folk art Flash Iridescent paint: amzn.to/3Ym9G9Q
If I missed any links that I should have included, please let me know. And if you know of a glue that could be used instead of the E6000 in cases where the hot glue might not be strong enough, please put your recommendation in the comments below.
You can find the patterns for all the critters behind me in the video here: www.ultimatepa...
And, of course, some of the links above are affiliate links - thanks for your support! 😊

I love it when you work outside of your comfort zone! You are so creative and it’s always a pleasure to watch you discover new paints and colors. I can’t keep up with your new patterns..😊 I think these masks are going to be made for the grands for their school Halloween parties. I’m actually excited about making my own feathers, i had a lot of fun making them for my chicken.

I would love to make a cat mask for myself, since my cats think I am their mom, especially one cat that I acquired 1.5 years ago...I would love to see their reactions.

Wow😮😮😮😮😮😮!!! You give your art life. It is cool how you make it all work. You come up with the design and that takes some research. I really struggle coming up with the size and proportions. It is also neat how you come up with different materials and textures. You are willing to try new things. I sure hope that you can sell some of your art so that you are able to keep on making new things. I still admire the animal mounts in the background, like the elephant. I like how you share your struggles. I am sure that most of your viewer feel the same way. You are a great teacher and thanks for the nice video. 😀😀😀😀

Thanks, Alan. The research is really fun, and the proportion stuff just comes with practice. Nobody is good at it the first times they try. 😊

These are _absolutely beautiful!_ That peacock is especially, mind-blowing! _LOVE_ these builds! *WOWZERS!* How do you display these builds to last forever? Do you have a video on this already? Don't know if you _need_ any "new ideas" but, I think I've got one for you? A _possible_ future video for your channel, if you like? Idea: "Decorative house plant pots" with removable plastic or glass liner. Was thinking something along the lines of: - Pretty pot creatures very colorful, variety of sizes & interesting 3D shapes (Wings, legs, tails) - Something gargoyle like. You know, "to stand on guard duty" over our plants! (These actually look like they're stone.) - Regular home decor shaped _but,_ incorporate interesting textures or faux finishing techniques. - A bunch of smaller pots (4") to make an entire colony of cute little bugs. (lady bug, butterfly, dragonfly & bumble bees) - A collection of pots that look like field animals. Mice, rabbits, hedgehogs, birds & more... I've often wondered if you'd ever created or discovered any interesting & weird ways to texture or faux finish your clay? Perhaps, something that you've never used because you always thought was "too weird" or "way too experimental" for your taste? Or current trends? What about using "THAT" on a decorative flower pot, would it work? Could you finally make use of that random idea, in this build/ creation? You know your clay better than anyone! If you create this video please consider some of these questions as you go? Do you prefer to upcycle anytime you can, how about with this build? Could we use a clean, dry plastic ice cream container or a large glass pickle jar? How do build the pretty pot around the liner, do we use it as a mold? Does this clay stick to glass or plastic, will it crack when we remove it? How thick or thin, should our clay be so that it doesn't crack? How do we make legs that are strong enough to support our pot & plant without breaking? How does your clay react to being placed in a sunny window, will it fall apart over time? etc.. Whether you run with my idea, a variation of it or completely ignore it... Most of all, thank you _so much_ for sharing all of your gorgeous creations with us throughout the years. 🤗💕💕

Do you mean the feathered masks? Or paper mache in general? The birds were just done on a whim, because I saw some Mardi Gras masks online with feathers, and I thought they should have the rest of the bird, and not just random feathers and lace. That's just me... But paper mache is something I started doing years ago, mostly to be able to sculpt, without spending much money. 😊
