The sugar, along with the vinegar doubles the bonding strength of the adhesive. Sugar also slows down the setting of the glue, same as sugar being present in cement.

Thanks for sharing this link! I love short stories from sci-fi magazines published in the 40’s and 50’s. Stargazer man looks like he could’ve stepped right out of one of those stories. My current favorite KZbin channel is exactly those short stories narrated by a guy with a wonderful voice. Here is a link in case you want something to listen to for inspiration while you’re creating these amazing characters. youtube.com/@vintagescifiaudiobooks?si=kHDAr6Jp-toNEK8v

It looks like you are frosting a cake. Mmm..cake...frosting.☺☺☺😯😯😯😯 He looks like some creature form a movie in the 50's. PBS had a show (I think) called Stargazer but I do not think Jack Horkheimer will be offended. You are always interesting. Does your new clay have good adhesion as you put it on???? You say space creature but I am think some kind of aquodic or swamp monster. Maybe I saw him on the TV show Lost In Space???? Make a story.......now I will be up all night trying to think of something. Thanks for the video. I am always glad to see you because you are so positive, giving and fun. 🤠🤠🤠🤠

How do you decide when you use paper strips and when you use paper mache clay?
@UltimatePaperMache18 сағат бұрын
The paper strips are great for masks, because they're so light. I use the paper mache clay for details on masks, or to make sculptures. It's much stronger than paper strips and paste, and can take a lot of handling. And you can sculpt features and fur more easily than with the strips and paste.
@RockLobster2402Күн бұрын
@UltimatePaperMache I have made paper Mache dragons doing strips. I used to use wheat paste. However I found roaches and rats loved it. Do you have problems with vermin going after sculpture due to the flour and cornstarch etc..? I also make masks and this would be great for that. I just take plastic masks from the store and used it as a mold. You should try masks. They are addicting, Painting the faces and deciding how to decorate. From New Orleans and Live here. That's why the fascination with masks.

I agree - I love making masks! I just posted my latest one, a Minotaur headdress mask for The Lightning Thief play. You can see it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnOYkmief6ijabs We don't seem to have bugs or mice that like to eat paper mache here in Minnesota, but I do hear from a lot people in warmer, more humid areas that do have problems with them.

@UltimatePaperMacheКүн бұрын
They probably didn't get dry fast enough to keep the mold from growing. Paper mache doesn't do well outside. Next Halloween, you might want to try the Paper Cement Clay recipe, instead. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnvdm3yQi9GGmpo

Do you have a designated mixer for this type of thing, or does this mixture clean-up well…?
@UltimatePaperMache18 сағат бұрын
I bought a really cheap mixer at Walmart, about 10 years ago. I keep it in the kitchen, but I only use it for my craft projects. I bought another one just like it, but a different color, for food. The paper mache clay likes to ride up the beaters and can get stuck up inside the housing, where it's really hard to get out.

@UltimatePaperMache2 күн бұрын
Yes, it was really heavy. It took two people to take it out of my house. Fortunately, I did measure the doorway before making it, so it fit, but I couldn't move it on my own. You'd want to use lighter materials if the weight would matter. Something like bubble wrap or even crumpled foil inside instead of crumpled paper.

@UltimatePaperMache3 күн бұрын
You can make larger batches. I haven't had a chance to test storing this recipe as wet material, but it does contain organic products, so you should keep it in the refrigerator or freezer if you can't use it right away.

Hello Jonni 😀, I've just tried your new recipe but I used newspaper (reduced at a state of "paper pulp") instead of toiler paper. It worked fine until I put my hand in it to knead, and then it sticked far too much ! I added a lot of corn starch, at least 2 cups, and it improved a bit but I still don't get the same result as you : it seems I won't be able to manipulate the paste as one does with clay, unless it becomes less sticky in 1 hour or 2, who knows ? This being said I'm wondering what I did the wrong way...perhaps my "glue" wasn't thick enough...
@UltimatePaperMache4 күн бұрын
If your diy glue looked like mine after you cooked it, that's probably not the problem. It sounds like your paper was too wet. The weight measurements I included in the video for the wet toilet paper might not work with newspaper. But I used less than a cup of corn starch, so I think there was just too much water in the mix. Try it one time with toilet paper, just to see what it should look and feel like, and then do your newspaper experiments and try to match your TP results.
