So from what the announcers we're saying if you make any ball you keep shooting. We always called that slop. That can't be right....pros playing slop on a bar box.

No that's incorrect "if you hit your ball first and pot your Opponents ball only it's loss of turn , if you hit your ball first and pot yours and your opponents ball you continue,

If you only pot your opponent's ball it's loss of turn. Only a foul if you don't hit your ball first. Potting one of each you continue the visit. Standard international 8 ball rules. It means you don't get rewarded for missing a pot and jawing it, blocking the pocket. Players often deliberately pot opponents ball legally to free up a pocket. Two balls in the same pocket we call the skill shot. In UK pub rules it's a foul to pocket your opponents ball under any circumstance. In short, there's several rule sets. Check out Ultimate Pool UK (7 foot table , much tighter pockets) and Chinese Heyball (9 foot snooker table with super tight pockets). Well worth the watch, but slightly different rules.

@@brokenmusician1 Thanks there can be many rules in many different places. I played near Philadelphia at a local establishment and this was actually a rule. You can use the eight ball in a combination but only if you hit the eightball first.

They call it a fluke. Lots of tournaments don't have call pocket but they play at such a high level it rarely happens with the cueball control. 9 ball can be slop or not, 8 ball is usually just pocket but each tournament and league is different
