Like to do it so I don’t have to recap everything I’ve done already... thought it saved time in the beginning so I don’t have to explain anything. Also I like for people to understand what’s going on with the build if they just find my channel. I can agree it’s kinda long though. I can try to shorten it up. 🤙🏼 Thanks for the nice way you said that. 👍🏼

Word to the wise from an automotive/marine restorer, to all the up and coming resto kids out there, tackle the mechanical first, get it running perfectly before you do costly cosmetic repairs, hate to see all the work and money that’s gone into these, just to have them not run, blowing motors, and so on. As they say, don’t put the cart before the horse. Also 2 stroke oil pumps are the devil, premix gas always, always, always. Really enjoy the channel, keep it up.

The jet skis look great at least. A couple years ago I bought a 94 Seadoo XP and a 94 Seadoo SPX with a trailer for $800. I have put so much time into these things and almost gave up last year after a few failed test runs. I gave them last chance and the run great now and are a ton of fun. Don't give up! A buddy of mine (he's owned many boats) spent around $20,000 on a nice bass boat, got it home,pressure washed it, let it drain and hit the water the very next morning, it started taking on water as soon as he pulled the trailer but he didn't realize it till he had made it a few hundred yards from the boat landing, he made it back fine and realized he had forgotten to put in both drain plugs. The thing is, no matter how well you do a job, never rush it,put parts for each project separately on their own shelf, I notice you tend to toss a lot of parts around your garage, keeping everything consolidated may have prevented you from forgetting to install those intake grates. You do a great job and I love watching but you (just my opinion from watching all of your videos) tend to rush the closer you get to the end of your projects which sometimes creates issues.

Good job on the skis. Just a tip. When removing any bolts from the motors it helps to tap each head with a hammer lightly. It helps break the corrosion loose so you don't snap the bolt when loosening. Also make sure you switch out the fuel selector on each ski. Those tend to leak air after a few years which can leave you stranded.
@douglaslila98253 жыл бұрын
You have to prime the oil pumps to make sure they will pump oil into the motor or fuel pump - Whichever setup it is. Premix is a sure fire method to make sure you have the right mixture and you save a little weight.

there should have been a recall for the oil injection because thats just bs. it was not an error on your part you had it hooked perfectly. These things fail all the team and its so easy to put a block off kit on it. While they should have recalled because it sucked from the get go, they didnt so that way people had to buy parts and/or get a new ski.

I give you props for how they turned out cosmetically, but I'd suggest that you deal with the mechanical before the cosmetic in the future. Do NOT take this the wrong way, but I have been absolutely fully enjoying reliving my life 10 yrs ago watching your aches and pains of polishing a turd and finding out that no matter how much money and polish you throw at it, it's still a turd worth slightly more than one that someone else beat the shit out of. lol Again, please don't take that the wrong way. I've done the exact same thing on old jet ski's, snowmobiles, dirt bikes, you name it. If you can find a sucker that looks at it when you're all done and says "Oh that's sick, I gotta have it!" and they'll pay you what you have in it, ur lucky. It's still a fun learning experience at the end of the day. But a TON of time and money to put into stuff that when it's all said and done you could've bought something 15 yrs newer, rode for a couple years, then unloaded before shit hit the fan!
@PoundNetTexas3 жыл бұрын
You do a great job on the cosmetic and artistic aspects of your builds. Those look better than some of the brand new skis. Unfortunately, those old 2 strokes need lots of maintainance. You should just assume every motor needs at least a top end and carb rebuild. You did the carb rebuilds, now you just need to do at least top-end. You say your not a mechanic, but it seems you are way better than most.

Oil injection is always finicky. You should always pre-mix until you're 100% certain you're not gonna get any air pockets. I've had to bleed mine every time I have gone out on an outboard motor and ive had it out twice. But I run 42:1 in the gas just in case I am not getting the adequate amount of oil.

@jetskirehab7503 жыл бұрын
It's called lack of preventive maintenance... The oil pumps never fail. You need to 100% re-do the fuel system, replace tiny oil injection lines, re-time the motor.

Seadoo motors are known to have broken head bolts. I have took apart a bunch, always snap at least one. Even on the motor that is locked up you will probably break a head bolt. Yamaha has the reliability section, Seadoo has the looks section. I run all my skis premix. I don’t want to worry about any of the oil cables and hoses. Those are what go bad.
@MegaKencam3 жыл бұрын
That's why you always run premix in the 1st tank. It gives you time to make sure the oil system is working correctly. You don't just jump on them and go. You have to check everything multiple times before you consider it fixed. 1 big thing with 2 strokes is if it starts acting weird, shut it off. Don't keep riding it. You will only make things worse. You destroyed those engines not the oil injection pump.

Then put tge sparkplugs back in let it sit up for 4 days. Unbolt the engine.& separate it. Then find the crankshaft bolt try turning it back& fourth from side to side motion until it will make A complete revolution turn then hook up the states.,or just keep hand turning the engine over about 20 times. Then retry it to see if it's freed up again.

I'm at 10:33 right now and you've just snapped off motor bolts. Your next step from here would be to soak them with penetrating oil and try reversing them out with left handed drill bits or easy outs. If that fails use that badass welder you bought to weld a nut onto the tops of them and again, after soaking with "Panther Piss" turn them out. Absolute last case fall back scenario that you DON'T want to do until you have to is to drill them out completely oversized and heli-coil them.
