I worked with Dave Canterbury's lead instructor on how to operate the SlingBow as research for some film work I have coming up. He placed the tip of the arrow on the toe of his boot for loading. The paracord popped right in to the nock. Then you could start the tension for the draw as you raised for the aim. It's good to go to the source sometimes!

David...Great video. My wife just gave me the Pathfinder Pocket Hunter for Christmas. I haven't used it hunting yet (just targets in the backyard). The thing rocks. It does take some practice but once you get it down the sling bow really works well and is very accurate . Mine also has the bow fishing attachment so I'm really excited to fish with it as well.

Pretty good Job brother I appreciate the Video, the Arrow knocking takes practice, I did notice at least on camera, most of the time they were not getting a full draw, what bands were you using for these demos?
@gordongaines107610 жыл бұрын
I have lost arrows using my sling bow. I can't afford to keep losing them so I quit with it. I'll just use my recurve bow. I got skill with that, but no skill with the sling bow.
@UltimateSurvivalTips10 жыл бұрын
***** It was the stock band... 28-30 lb depending on draw length. Ahin was / is at a disadvantage with such short arms. You do make a good point though... We unfortunately had only a few hours to shoot all the Eps... and my camera guys kept trying to move me along as I was trying to help the 3 bros hone their skills (if this is Dave) - you probably appreciate the push of a production crew - lol. They all ended up pulling the sling back by holding the paracord knot vs. finger/s in the loop... This probably limited their hand strength... but helped them get on target. Thanks for the comment/s. You are always welcome around my campfire! :) ~David
@UltimateSurvivalTips10 жыл бұрын
Gordon Gaines Thanks for the comment Gordon. The simple solution here is what I did with Ahin in this video. Move up to 10 - 15 feet. Do NOT move back until you are putting your arrows in the Yellow or at least the red. Purchase a cheap - HUGE archery target like the ones we used in the video... they are like $29 US at any outdoor shop. Try different styles... but I settled into a style shooting straight on looking down the arrow shaft and holding on target BEFORE pulling back. Try using the paracord knot vs. putting fingers in the loop... it seems like this is easier for beginners. Hope this helps. ~David

Really enjoyable! I was glad to see that I wasn't the only one having trouble nocking arrows in the Pathfinder. I tried using aluminum arrows and broad heads in mine and found the velocity appeared to drop when compared to the carbon arrow and field point that comes with it.
@UltimateSurvivalTips10 жыл бұрын
hot2warm Yes... all the sling bows have little quarks... it's the price of being portable though. I'm pretty much addicted to Carbon arrows now... but have a set of aluminum arrows for beating around in the field with my take down and long bows...
@markjohnson66569 жыл бұрын
Why do you say 30 feet is the max effective range for a slingshot? Competitions have a minimum distance of 10 meters (33 feet). Competitions also use 20 meters, 25 meters, and 30 meters. An experienced slingshot user can take animals at distances a lot farther than 30 feet.

Thanks David, really been debating on a sling bow to get. Great to see joe back, although I'm missing his daughter's army shirt, that thing made my day. I'd love to see something along these lines where you have the 3 lads get a go in your arsenal and pack a bug out bag; maybe give them a time limit and then have them do a few tasks like get a fire going, get a liter of water or make a shelter. Also would be really cool to see this same thing done with maybe pre fabbed fishing kits like the ones from uncle flint.

Great video, this is an excellent way to have fun and quickly show us a review on four different slings. Can't wait to watch the others. I think the Pathfinder's bow attachment can be purchased separately and then added to your marksman if you already had one. I think if there was a rigid plastic tube for you to knock your arrow into, that might help? Not sure why you can't just hold the arrow knock in the pocket, is it too slippery?

You’ve seen people shoot their pistol from the hip and hit the bulls eye. I saw this amazing guy when I was in 3rd grade. In my country of origin, slingshots are very very common tool for hunting. I was with him and some friends in our backyard. (TROPICS) Big trees and bushes, then our cleaning lady suddenly started screaming SNAKE SNAKE frantically in panic. I grabbed my sling shot and started to work on that snake still dangling in a small bush tree. This guy NEMO yelled at me “shoot the head, aim at his head”. Yeah right, with a slingshot? So he grabbed my slingshot pick up a pebble and HE SHOOT FROM HIS HIP. WHAM BOOM 💥. One shot HEAD SHOT. 👀 WOW 😮. Ever since then I respected NEMO and slingshot. He held the pebble locked to his hip in his right hand, then he stretched left arm in the direction of the snake. IMPRESSIVE
