I am absolutely in love with your work. I have been binge watching your videos for 3 days now and will be putting together my own compact kit. This has made me want to dedicate myself to being artistic everyday. Even if for only 30 min. Thank you for showing me how to fall in love with painting again!

Funnily enough, your palette falling onto the ground (oh man) gives me some ideas on how to secure a box watercolor set to my sketchbook. I have some rubber bands at home that could really work wonders, so I’ll try those out sometime. Thank you for the video!

For those who like something even more compact, I have wrist palette that you wear like a watch. It is a small wooden pallet that has a ribbon/fabric that you tie around your wrist, it has 6 built in pans and the other side that opens up is a small mixing area. I got mine off Etsy. I think Cheap Joe’s or Jerry’s Artarama carry a version with a watch band. I also have the Whiskey Painter’s palette. I like the business card sized palette seen here. It appears they have increased the amount of pans available.

One container that I like at this point is one or two of those weekly plastic pill boxes. You can fill them with a good squeeze of watercolors and take them anywhere. The only drawback is that there is no mixing spot. I have been taking an old open plastic palette but I might just buy some cheap Styrofoam plates or just carry some tinfoil. The advantage to the pill containers is that you can seal up your color individually. I love the idea with water-brushes! I just might try that with some Dr. PH Martin's.

I recently was on a flight to Gold Coast and used my Prima watercolour set, a waterbrush, the free bottle of water the airline gives us, and a pack of watercolour postcards. I could paint in the confined space of economy seats and found it much more distracting than getting in half of a movie. The postcards sets are amazing!

Thank you for this! Really great to see how easy it is to take watercolors around with you anywhere you go. I also love that ending/button panel. Reminds me of a game series I love called Myst. Your outro specifically reminds me of Riven (the 2nd game of the series). Nostalgia is wrapped up in it so much that I can remember the feeling as a child, being in that world from your outro. Keep up both of your wonderful work. I appreciate all the hard work you do!

I understand that your bijou box is the old style that has 4 mixing areas in the lid but how did you get 18 pans in it? I just purchased a bijou box but I can only fit 14 half pans in it. Is your box larger or are the pans smaller? I have several small palettes including the “pocket palette “. But my favorite is the bijou box. Any info on your palette or suggestions on where to find smaller pans would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Because of several health problems I usually have to do my watercolor drawings in bed. I have found that this set of pans, and the plastic case they come in, works great for me. (smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M3RXDGY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1)The box can hold either 34 half pans or a smaller amount of pans and a water brush, pencil, sponge, and whatever else you can fit in the box depending on the number of pans you use. I use double-sided rug tape to hold in my pans but am thinking of changing that to magnets so I can remove pans to form a temporary palette for the current painting I'm doing.I use plastic, from a folding plastic paper storage box, to line the top of the boxes so I can mix paints. When I'm done I just rinse off the excess paint, dry the plastic and put it back in the box to protect the swatch card for the box.For painting outside, I use a cigarette case. The pans, from the other boxes fit in the cigarette case and I use the same plastic, I used in my other small palettes, to make a little mixing area in the lid. I clip off the bottom metal bar that holds in the cigarettes but leave the top bar to hold the swatch chart and mixing plastic.I use the elastic on my 4" x 4" watercolor pad to hold the box, a water brush, and paper towel together. You could also put the supplies in a zip-lock baggie to make sure no liquids escape into a pocket, purse, or travel bag.BTW, loved the video clips of the mishaps. I thought I was the only one who had problems keeping it altogether when painting lol.

i dont really recommend that, when you're actually painting, you gotta design, and one of the major thing aside the message, is playing with warm and cool tones, how important? well, depends, it just gives more interest to a scene, unless you do portraits (people, animals, houses, etc) yet, i believe it has much more interest if you play with the background to show off the portrait itself, so what i might recommend it would be.... a cool yellow or a tiny bit warm (hansa yellow light or medium, cadmium yellow light, lemon yellow, etc), burnt sienna, and french ultramarine, or just ultramarine, mixing your tones around these make such a warm and cool harmony and a general colour mixes harmony that it is just wonderful to see, although, if you wanna have a backup for skin tones, add madder lake, or alizarin crimson or the permanent one, i have tried these out and its wonderful for almost any subject. but in a 3 colour tin you'll have little or none mixing space, so anyways, the burnt sienna is a godblessing there, aside from its usefulness. but 3 colours's practicality... its... little, i go for eight colours in my bijou box, a pen, a small pocket brush, and a piece of eraser, with that along a waterbrush, you're more than good to go! i liked the 8 selection so much, that i putted it in full pans to my standard tin palette! oh god, im writing quite a lot....
