I remember when this episode came out. 110 and the finale of DBS were the first two moments I saw of an anime going globally viral. There was a crowd of over 15,000 people that showed up to watch the finale in Mexico in a plaza/stadium. And the amount of reactions was insane. In the manga, ultra instinct is more based on being able to dodge and move without thinking, something that could be mastered by high level martial artisits. In the spirit of that notion, Roshi used movements that were compared to ultra instinct while fighting Frost. He's so experienced and well trained that he can slightly mimic a godly transformation.

The concept of ultra instinct is to completely rely on your instinct (no shit) without thinking anything on your mind. The form ultra instinct isn't a myth among the gods and angels it's actually the form of angels (whis kind) and angels always on ultra instinct that's why vegeta and goku weren't able to touch whis in training. And there are gods who possess ultra instinct but not its mastered version, beerus is one of them, that's why he was shocked after seeing goku in UI because goiu is an mortal and this form is even impossible to achieve even for the gods.

The heroes of universe two are a play on that, and they went all in on this one. They did a similar thing with Katopesla albeit he's a play on Kamen Rider, which is a Power Ranger-esque Sunday morning drama for nursery school/kindergarten aged boys in Japan. 11:11 I don't know if I agree with that statement. Frieza's a jerk, particularly to Saiyans because they were the ones to challenge him and defeat him. He, like Saiyans, was raised believing that he couldn't be beaten, ever. And for him to be beaten by a lower class Saiyan was just a bridge too far for him. It damaged his ego and psyche something terrible. Frieza is doing what's he doing to Gohan because he's Gokuu's son, the son of the only guy to ever defeat him--Frieza couldn't hurt Gokuu, but he can hurt Gohan; and seeing Gohan suffer is satisfying to him here. Frieza's story's been retconned a bit since Dragon Ball Super started, and it now turns out that he did what he did because Beerus ordered him to. Frieza and his family likely did the work Beerus himself couldn't be bothered to do. They just found a way to enrich themselves off the work. Is it scummy? I'm not too sure. What option did they have? Do as Beerus said or be destroyed themselves. Is Beerus an evil god? Not necessarily, he's sort of like a necessary evil. He and Kaioshin are the Yin and Yang of Universe Seven and they've been tasked with keeping the universe balanced, a job they were given by the top god, Zen-Oh himself. I don't know about you, but I feel like Frieza is on the same road Kuririn, Yamucha, Tenshinhan, Ma Junior and Vegeta were once on themselves, the road to redemption. Gokuu's friends were all unsavory people at one time. Gokuu's has a way of reforming people, even the worst of the worst at times. This is something that was recently revealed in the manga during the Moro arc, but something many readers likely found out a very long time ago. Frieza looks to be the next person in line. Will we see this change manifest in an anime someday? Probably, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Dragon Ball Super went off the air four years ago, and we've only gotten two movies since then. The manga is still going strong, but we still don't have an animated series. I suspect we won't be getting one until a new group of voice actors have been locked down, many of the VA for Dragon Ball Super are getting up there in age, and unlike most anime that have been going on for years that have recasted their characters, Dragon Ball has only ever done that after the death of a VA. Dragon Ball doesn't like change, but now it's come to the point were change is necessary if they want to keep moving forward. Akira Toriyama has already stepped aside and made room for his protege to helm the story, so when will the VA's? Gokuu's voice actress is 86 years old! Kuririn's VA is 68 years old! Piccolo's VA is 76 years old! Cell's VA is 77 years old! Vegeta's VA is 65 years old! Frieza's VA is 72 years old! Trunks' VA is 57 years old! Masako Nozawa, who voice almost the entire Son family is the oldest and the most well-known voice in Dragon Ball. She's getting on up there in age. While she's still active, she's not really voicing any animated series at this time, and I don't think anyone wants to put her under a heavy workload such a series would require. Movies are less demanding. Anyway, Dragon Ball has a voice actor age dilemma, and fans don't like change. I'm not speaking about the fans abroad per se, though some of them might not want to see any changes either, but the fans in Japan, which is Japan's target audience. I suspect Dragon Ball will get an all new cast of VAs before it returns to TV with new stories. EDIT: 31:26 simply put, UI is Bruce Lee's most famous quote (or at least one of, if not most famous), Be Water, my friend: "Be Water, My Friend. Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless, like water. You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put it into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." Gokuu is the birth of two popular stories China's folk tale the Monkey King and DC comics' Superman, but Akira Toriyama also splashed in a bit of Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee, Terminator and Back to the Future (the time machine aspect, anyway). Gokuu used the Genkidama on himself in one of the movies way back in the day, the one with him fighting Android 13, but those movies weren't conical, so this is the first time he did so in canon, though in an alternate universe since Toei's ToP story is vastly different from the Manga's! I think the anime has some pretty amazing moments, but I'm not a fan of how they really dragged this out and made it look like everyone sat around and waited for each universe to get knocked about by Universe 7. The manga made things happen pretty quickly and more like a battle royal. Gohan went out like a boss! Gokuu and Jiren's battle was pretty different too, and the battle between Vegeta and ...scratch that--you aren't there yet, well, let's just say his battle was pretty different too. Anyway, in the anime universe Gokuu was able to activate a new power by absorbing the essence of an attack, which is weird when you think about Bruce Lee's quote. Gokuu's mind was clear, in fact he was very angry because his methods weren't working. Ultra Instinct is the exact opposite of becoming Super Saiyan! Do you remember what it took for Gokuu to become a Super Saiyan the first time? Frieza had to kill Gokuu's childhood friend--the trigger is anger! Ultra Instinct can only be activate when one clears ones mind completely and allows the body to act on its own instantaneously...like water, you know, going with the flow. Gokuu's is still pretty angry in the scene you just watched, and that's why he couldn't keep the form. He has learned the lesson Whis and in this tournament Muten Roshi was trying to teach him.
