Nice idea. Isn't that a coax dipole antenna. I don't understand the need for the balun though as you're transmitting with 8 watts or less.

how did you adjust SWR? I didn't see detail of the antenna tip 73 py2vm
@Bluejay19684 жыл бұрын
The tip is a loop made by folding the wire back on itself and holding it place with heat shrink. You adjust the swr by adjusting the length of the transmitting element by adjusting the loop.

Nice video but i cant seem to find the nice mast plate for the guy wires? Is it a Sotabeams
@Bluejay19687 жыл бұрын
Hi John Leonardelli. The guy line bracket is home made, it is a section cut from a deadfall tree branch with the holes drilled into it. You need a drill bit the same thickness as the fibreglass pole but smaller than the metal sleeve.

What diameter is the choke Duane and how many turns mate?73s Tim
@Bluejay19687 жыл бұрын
CT 2116 Tim think it was 9 turns on a 25mm tube. If i remember correctly i used a Sherbert dip tube lol
@stevejones86657 жыл бұрын
Bluejay1968 Just make sure you don't mix up coax off cuts with licorice from your Sherbet dip lol😊 Great to see everyday items being put to good use and it's a lot cheaper than Antennas with Expensive names and I bet yours works a lot better...Good Video 👍👍

Dont get this. How far do you intend transmitting? My uv5r gets out to 40 miles with a small yagi. Oh and hardly any setup. Still love what you're doing though😀

Great video and re-use of materials there. I'll be copying that design for my up and coming SOTA work once I get the license at the end on November. Did you alter the length of the radiating section at all due to the lack of pipe protection? And also how much extra did you use for the tuning loop at the top?
@Bluejay19687 жыл бұрын
No the length is the same, think it was about 4 inches over for the loop, your best bet is to leave a bit too much and then trim it afterwards but still leave some to adjust swr if need be :)
@AndyWragg7 жыл бұрын
I took mine to the club to use the antenna analyser. Ended up shortening both sections by 40 and 50mm to get a decent SWR at 145MHz. I'm using 32mm tube with 5 turns as per the table on the designer's website.

what are you using as your tuning stub, to adjust the swr. thanks jake 73
@Bluejay19687 жыл бұрын
Swr is set by adjusting the loop at the top of the transmitting element to alter the length, i used heat shrink to hold the loop and allow adjustment.
