The brahmin being cooked with the flamers is actually a real dish, minus the mutant cows. They're called "smokies", a real world dish where the animal is burnt whole to a crisp and then you eat whatever parts. It's extremely unsafe and has tons of harmful bacteria but, fitting for the apocalypse.

This quest does shows House's flaw of dependency again and NCR's flaw of monopolies pretty well, a few Barons could really create a food shortage in Vegas.

*NCR sets up a sharecrop farm and have OSI looking into better food growing while House is just planing to use the strip and Hoover dam to nickle and dime them while building industry to sell things to them and makes no mention of setting up farming* yep NCR is totally the one doing nothing. :3 Tho if you want to talk futures, the progressive era does follow the GIlded age.

Save the kid, expose Mortimer, and spare Heck. Walter's beef (no pun intended) with Heck isn't my fight to be in, and there's no actual evidence that Heck has killed anyone or done anything illegal; it's just someone unhappy about inevitable economic progress where smaller farms and ranches inevitably get gobbled up by larger corporations. It's not my place to fight against inevitability, as sad as may be from a nostalgia point of view.

There is a way to get through the kitchen without angering the White Gloves. What you need to do is go to Mortimer and ask about the history of the White Glove Society, at first he'll deny his involvement in that old world habit. But you have to pass a speech check to lie and say that you eat people too, unlike with Marjorie, who unabashedly is against it, but we know that Mortimer isn't. So if you can convince him that you agree and support his cause, he sings like a kid in a cowboy costume at Wal-Mart! 😂 He'll tell you where Ted is, and asks you for help in replacing him with someone else. after you agree to lend him a hand, he'll give you a freezer key. Edit: Ohhhhhh, looks like that's on the way...

What I love about this quest is that it shines a light on how different civilizations within Fallout deal with "civilizing" the various tribes within the Mojave, and their rituals. The Legion's entire existence is comprised of an amalgam of conquered tribes, and completely erases their tribal identities. House sort of sweeps them under the rug by putting some spiffy new suits on them, and creating and enforcing (arguably superficial) rules within The Strip, and NCR either ghettoizes (Freeside) or pushes them further out into the wastes (Kahns).

Problem is, lot of them are bugged (For example, I had to reload this mission a bunch of times because Ted was stuck in combat mode and Heck didn't recognize him at the bar) "I could make you care" and the unmarked missing laser pistol quest is just the same, it was so frustrating to try to finish them today without console commands or cheats
