Very good and clear explanations, so far I've only explored as far as 2:1 and have been considering the next step. I have the same Laowa lens on a Sony camera. You have given me the confidence to start, though I think I will try the same subject at 3:1, then 4:1 and finally 5:1 to check my technique and setup is stable enough to go as far as 5:1. Thank you for this inspiring video.

Very nice explanations. Recently picked up a second hand LAOWA 2.5-x5 macro lens, so looking forward to doing some extreme macro with it. Haven't ventured into the world of focus stacking yet, but am leaning towards getting one of those motorised rails to make it slightly easier. Since I'm more of an outdoors macro guy, I'd really like to get the hang of handheld focus stacking. Do you do that yourself, and if so, would you perhaps do a video of how it's done. Since your explanations in this video were so clear. Cheers.

I have a Nikon Z camera and am considering the Laowa 90mm macro lens. With a manual only lens, will I be able to see a histogram? If there is no communication with the camera, how do I know if the exposure is correct, particularly when hand-holding the camera when photographing an insect on a flower? Nice presentation.

Hi David, you will be able to see the histogram as that functionality does not require any communication with the camera for display!

That is all well and good for dead bugs. Today I used my favorite lens (a Laowa 85) with a 49mm NiSi close up lens of a live Phymata assassin bug stalking and killing a 1/2 mm long insect (species?). Some of the were stacks of a few images but the best one was taken at f/16 (marked). Diffraction lowered the resolution; Topaz restored some of it. We do what we have to do. I DO wish Laowa would give is a macro with longer working distance (200mm f/8?).
