Germany, Poland, Russia, Italy, England, Netherlands and almost every Eastern European country have violent ultras, and i'm only naming some European country's South America for example also has violent ultras. that is is alot more then 90%. The maffia story happens mostly in Italy and Eastern Europe were they have alot of influence. About the basketball games: in Europe a lot of sport clubs have teams for different sports, football, basketball, handball, etc, so the Football Ultras also go support the other sport teams that the club has. Imagine 10.000 Ultras in a 15.000 seat indoor arena!

I can't say these things don't happen in the states, not for American clubs, but many of us if not immigrants are children of immigrants, so we have clubs we support back home or back wherever our parents came from, as for that, for people who did move here, they set up supporter groups, in the case of South Americans, members of Barra Bravas do set up chapters in the states and still fight with each other out here the way they would back home, some dude was recently killed in NY over football related politics that the guy that killed him couldn't leave that shit in Colombia, he had to keep fighting people living here now in New York. I'm from New York personally so yeah I support the football and support a MLS side but I didn't get into the sport because of MLS, both my parents are South American, my first loves to the sport other than always having a football at my feet as a kid was watching the Colombian National Team and my father always talking to his friends about Junior Futbol Club, his club back home. Which is not even a big club, like for the city yeah, club formed in 1924, arguably the biggest club on the coast, but unless you from the city, you probably not a fan of the club, and we are pretty hostile with our clubs back home, there's a joke that says Colombians can all get along until we mention what football clubs we support, cause it's like that. And I watch other sports, but no other sport gets me as hyped, or emotional as football, there is nothing like it, especially if you truly do love that club you support. I do not thing many other sports can compare to that, at least not in the U.S. because the U.S. fanbase is entirely different than how we are.

euro football and some south american countries football has for years had a thug element following their local team, but authorities have clamped down heavily on them as well as the clubs. the clubs are indirectly getting rid of the thug element, by increasing ticket costs and making it a sport for the higher paid to watch live only. but you can go into some grounds and the fans are dead quiet.
