all the researchers say that likely almost all of his benefit is coming from: - enough sleep - enough vegetables - enough exercise - enough time with friends and it's very unlikely that much, if any, of the other stuff is making a difference, and some of it is very risky (e.g. blood transfusions)

I hope he also enjoys his life and not occupy it only with maintenance to not die. Which we all will have to face someday as scary that might be. Ironically enough having lost the majority of my teenage and early twenties to depression and other mental health stuff I came out way more appreciative of the now. I might not make it to forever or even a hundred years old and that is fine with me finding time to do the things i love and enjoy while I still can is way more important to me then spending so much time obsessing over the perfect plan, diet and so fourth to live even longer.

I think somebody here is a bit of a hater and a little bit jealous and maybe should speak to the man reach out to him, get his opinion and ask the questions instead of ripping apart. Something that he’s basically giving to the world for free such as blueprint, giving people his advice he could charge people for going onto his website he could charge people for the information like so many people to do you just want people to have information for free and have the tools if they want to do it nobody is forcing you to do it. I just think you’re poking holes because you’re not a scientist why don’t you ask him I’ve been following his advice for a year now I’ve been in the fitness industry for 18 years, now, ultra healthy, fully qualified and licensed, and my chronological age is now that of a 21-year-old and trust me, I am not 21-year-old that it’s thanks to his advice and following his workout routines granted it’s not gonna work for everybody. Everybody is different but you don’t know unless you try. Even one thing I got years to your life will help you. I just think you are just jealous my personal opinion I have the right to say it that all the hate all the self righteous people in all of the loyal followers that you have come at me I don’t care it’s a free country free-speech it’s still exist for now, peace and love

I largely agree with your take. People seem to have a strange irrational hatred of this man, which I do understand somewhat. He is really weird and some of the things he does (like blood transfusions) are borderline creepy. And he needs some PR help, because usually when I see people mention him it's "that weird 45 year old who wants to look 18". I also agree about the aging and dying part. Dr Sinclair talks about that a lot in his interviews, that we're all basically trapped in this weird delusion that aging and dying are actually good! And it makes sense, because they're inevitable. It's much more practical to just delude yourself that the inevitable decline and death that you will face is a good thing than it is to worry about it.

As someone who worked in a tranfusiology lab, I must add that frequent blood transfusions are also dangerous for the patient. Red blood cells have many individual specific antigenes. Medicine knows a lot of them and can test it out, but there are also plenty unknown antigenes. Patients develop antibodies against those and if they receive blood with the same antigenes again, there will be an immunological reaction. Hemolysis ( destroyment of the blood cells ), chills and fever ... or even death as the worst case scenario.

Do you put the same energy into your relationships with loved ones? Socialising is also part of longevity. And living. You gotta ask yourself if you have to do all this, what exactly are you living for?
@Kveldred
@Kveldred 11 ай бұрын
@@SelinaCat Well... What makes you think this is a relevant concern, in this particular case? _(well, okay, first off: yeah, you have a point because Blueprint looks real extensive and all-consuming... which I forgot when I wrote all the below; so, uh, pretend I'm talking to a different version of you that said this about a regular diet or something pls-)_ ...But still, like, if someone posted "I enjoy biking and I watch this pro biker because it inspires me to bike better and stuff!"... ...would you be like: "Hey dude, socializing is part of being in the biking community, so you shouldn't focus too hard on the actual biking! Really, ask yourself: _what are you even riding these things FOR?"_ --------------------------------------- I'm not criticizing your comment or anything! It's a valid point _in general,_ to be sure (and, hell, maybe you've actually seen people get too caught up in it or whatever). It's just that for some reason, whenever longevity comes up, people *very often* frame it as all-or-nothing "enjoy life *⊻* hope for longevity"; and, hence and then, use that as a springboard to "actually it's very silly to care about this - because how dumb is it to ruin your life for a slim chance of _more miserable life,_ right?!"...* 'sides, I'd suppose socializing really has very little effect on longevity - *beyond* mood regulation, perhaps, for those who enjoy it; but probably OP autoregulates socialization per his/her appetite, so I'm kinda doubtful an intervention here is worth the effort... Let's criticize the supplement choices instead! 🎉😀 _·--------------------·Notes·---------------------·_ ------------------------------------------------------ **:* (and then follow many other old favorites, usually, all of which can probably also be found in *this* video's comments; make a Bingo card!: _"...and_ actually _it would probably be _*_worse_*_ to live forever I mean imagine trying to die but being forced to live!_ _"And I'll_ *probably* _reach a point - safely distant, of course - where I WANT to die... I mean old people generally just go out and kill themselves at some milestone, don't they?_ _"Besides, think about, like, the Circle of Life, which is very beautiful. in vague poetic language, or with fictional characters. ...but I mean, oh_ hell _no _*_please_*_ God don't let the Circle happen to_ me or mine, _ofc._ _"...but yeah, anyway! appreciate the beauty, idiot! stop making me think about the true-true, and oh-so-painfully out-of-reach-beauty of a world without aging and death!")_

Really appriciate that some people are still able to give level headed responses and analyse something without swinging the pendulum into either disgusted rejection, or some sort of religious holy grail. I find Bryans content really interesting and worth while, even if it were just for the core message of self care and getting rid of destructive behavior to live longer and happier. He can do what he wants with the money he earned and I absolutely do not think that his one person experiment is completely worthless for the rest of us. It's inspiring at the very least to see someone really have an eye for what the future may hold and to try to get there trying all kinds of stuff. It enriches the conversation about health and aging and just by that will help the science by making more people interested in it.

To be fair, the living forever is more of you can decide when you are going to go. I would want to go out on my terms, not on the whims of my body just giving out on me. As long as I am healthy and have a good standard of life as I grow old then it would be great, but I wouldn't want to be in a home, getting wheeled from meal to bed and then outside once a day so that I get some sun... that isn't living, that is surviving. Sorry for the rant, but it is something I have spent a lot (probably far more time than is warranted) of time regarding this.

I have my doubts about Blueprint. Yes, we can live longer and turn back time if we live healthier and replenish deficiencies that arise as we age. But some supplements in combination can weaken each other's strength. And because he does so much, it is difficult to determine what really works. And whether it works. Part of it may have to do with the fasting itself. Or healthy food (plant-based).

The healthiest, longest living populations on Earth eat little or no meat. Blue Zone populations are the populations that National Geographic found to have the largest number of centenarians, and who had the most vitality in later years. The Blue Zone with the longest lifespan are the Seventh Day Adventists of Loma Linda California. They are taught that their bodies are temples and are encouraged to not eat meat. The vegans among them are the healthiest. They have the lowest chance among the SDA's of ischemic heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and multiple types of cancer. Only the vegan dietary group among them had an average BMI in the recommended range. "SEE THAT YOUR DIET IS 95-100 PERCENT PLANT-BASED People in the blue zones eat an impressive variety of garden vegetables when they are in season, and then they pickle or dry the surplus to enjoy during the off-season. The best-of-the-best longevity foods are leafy greens such as spinach, kale, beet and turnip tops, chard, and collards. Combined with seasonal fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and beans dominate blue zones meals all year long. People in four of the five blue zones consume meat, but they do so sparingly, using it as a celebratory food, a small side, or a way to flavor dishes. *Research suggests that 30-year-old vegetarian Adventists will likely outlive their meat-eating counterparts by as many as eight years.* "-Blue Zones web site

I love him for many reasons, and one of them is his remark: "the more intelligent a system gets, the more compassion that it has". His vegan diet is his ethical choice, he mentioned very clearly in the interview with Tom Bilyeu. He also says, that our society celebrates self-destructive behaviour and ridicules healthy lifestyle choices. I never drinks alcohol, never ate meat, don't eat junk food. A big bowl of warm veggies is "comfort food" to me, I love to move (dance, walk, run, yoga). People ridiculed me for it, and often say that not drinking alcohol etc is so "boring". But I prefer not to use any neurotoxins (such as alcohol). Luckily I noticed a shift in our society, and more people realize the health impact of our lifestyle choices.

@@JudyCZ, , it isn’t, for the same reason you weren’t born a cockroach by pure chance. Not everything that isn’t under your control is the result of pure chance. You didn’t choose to be born on planet Earth instead of Mars. Yet, you being born on planet Earth wasn’t the result of pure chance. You had zero chance to be born on Mars. Your personal characteristics (which you don’t choose either) extend beyond your mind and body and into the environment you live in, and that includes your family and your progenitors, who weren’t assigned to you by some random mechanism. Rather, it was largely the result of a deterministic process. Notice that people don’t choose to be smart or hard-working either. Those characteristics are also the combined result of their genes and their environment which are also beyond the individual’s control. But for now it makes us happy and we’re blessed enough to continue to do so and grocery shop in stores that align with our wants. But we also know if we do have kids, or lose a job, we would be ok not eating like this mentally, it’s not what we care about most. TLDR, we eat plant based and and use a lot of supplements because we can, not because we must.

What works for Bryan is not necessarily going to work for you even if you were somehow able to duplicate what he's doing. We can't really get any insights from it at all, if he was actually interested in studying longevity, he would seek to do experiments with large groups of people instead of just himself. I don't have any specific problem with what he's doing, but it just doesn't really add anything of significance to longevity research.

Senescence and longevity are complex-who'd have guessed?-but something you touched on that I think suggests the "longevity movement" punts on QoL is that the most convincing lifespan-extending factors are pretty much all related to lower metabolism. Lower energy intake and lower energy expenditure is at odds with the adventurous, ambitious, average-high testosterone experience I think the average tech-bro adjacent Bryan Johnson fan wants. Considering longer life as one benefit in favor of pursuing healthy lifestyle is perfectly rational, but maximizing lifespan probably isn't as ideal as it says on the tin, as is shown by BJ supplementing test even though it isn't consistent with his wider ethos (except it secretly is, because being vigorous and ambitious isn't an ideal I think he/his audience can jettison).

I think a fear of death is perfectly natural, but religion turns that up to 11 by telling people that they will in fact live forever, and that could be either an eternity of bliss, or an eternity of pain. Both of those royally messes a lot of people up, especially when they realise they have no good reason to believe that to be true (at which point they have to face the reality that they won't live forever, and they won't see any lost loved ones again - religion can mess up the natural mourning process, even if it does provide some short-term relief). I also think it's entirely possible and healthy to get over this fear (although who knows whether everyone can do so). Aging and associated mental illnesses may indeed be "awful", and I don't think Rebecca or myself would say differently, but just no longer continuing to be around is not inherently bad. Society has just convinced people that it's basically the worst thing that can happen to someone, and we need to do whatever we can to slow it down, whereas people would probably fear it a lot less if we promote a view that's more about making the most of the limited time we have, and seeing our place in the world. I also think there's a big difference between not wanting to die and actively fearing it. I don't think the former is really a problem, but if you anxiously think about it a lot, that's not good. That's obviously not something you can just choose to stop feeling, but it's probably something you should try to deal with by e.g. speaking to a therapist. As a side note, an extreme aversion to death makes suffering from mental illnesses so much worse, because that motivates opposition to assisted dying, where people could opt out of experiencing severe suffering for the rest of their life.

Brian has to use steroids as part of his regimen because his diet and lifestyle has destroyed his natural testosterone levels. This is not a sign of a healthy lifestyle. Aside from the calorie restriction being an issue, cholesterol is key in the body’s synthesis of sex hormones. It’s already a struggle for vegans, so his overall plan is making it impossible for his body in this regard. Personally, I don’t know a single man willing to tank his testosterone for the possibility of a slighty longer life. It would mean poor focus, low mood, reduced muscle mass and bone density, and poor sexual health. What man would torture himself with a miserable lifestyle, when that’s the outcome?

It is on the periodic table right next to other minerals everyone knows like magnesium and potassium. It is crazy to think some animals need lithium, even animals so similar to humans biologically and genetically, like goats. We know if you remove ALL lithium from a goats diet its becomes straight up sterile. Lithium is the most abundant mineral literally in both the earth's makeup and all the matter in the universe. Lithium is an amazing element in our world and there is an interesting history and backstory about its downfall in the USA before being patented and sold as a psych med.
