@maddiejoy7896
@maddiejoy7896 4 жыл бұрын
Megan Ouellette I should have been clearer, it just means pesticides approved for organic farming. I’ll edit my original comment for clarity. From what I understand, organic pesticides are non-synthetic and conventional farming allows for synthetic or non-synthetic pesticides. Scientific consensus doesn’t say that either synthetic or non-synthetic on the whole is better, healthier, or safer. There are benefits and risks in both categories.
@FantaFaraday
@FantaFaraday 4 жыл бұрын
@@guttergrl4982 Organic farming has a criteria they are to follow and they can face the same disease, insect, and other issues that conventional farming faces. IPM is encouraged ( well, for conventional and organic) and aside from mechanical and cultural controls used there is a list of allowed and prohibited substances in the US (other countries too, I'm just not as familiar) An organic pesticide essentially just means it is derived from mineral, animal or plant instead of synthetically. That being said, there are select synthetic approved products on the list but far fewer than conventional farming. People tend to automatically equate organic to no pesticide use and that is not always the case. Heck, rotenone used to be on the approved list but it is now on the prohibited nonsynthetic list.

Also, pesticides are GOOD. Without them a vast majority of people wouldn't have fresh produce, or food in general. There are ones that are better for the environment in general than others, certainly. Those that are extremely harmful have thankfully been banned heavily regulated. But trace amounts of normal pesticides don't harm you, your gut, your pets, or your kids. They're meant to kill bugs. Not humans.

She seems to have a bit of the orthorexia vibes and veganism seems to draw this kind of people. All the poison talk and so many rules. It seems so sad - mostly i think about my food but not that much. And fish are so cool im a vegan with aquariums I bought the sad betas in cup (I have already 5 aquariums) and they are so cool animals they know you ok who feeds them but still they emote and all. i had first just plant aquariums but then i saw these sad raged betas and i had functioning as cycled and minimum 5gallon aquariums - ending my rant on fish.

There's a whole lot I could say here, not only about her (I've been watching her videos for a while and am disappointed with this), but about many things she said. This would just be too long if I talked about everything wrong here. But as a historian, I want to say that human beings have not only been eating grain for a very long time, but also, grains are responsible for making us healthier and live longer as a species. We "took off" after we learned to cultivate grains, because they're so nutritious. Whole grains belong in a healthy diet, unless one has an actual physical condition that makes it necessary to avoid them. That is all.

@@s.m4952 Hi, I'm glad you're interested! I've been trying to think of a specific book for you, but what I have learned has come from a lifetime of scholarship - from scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals, and textbooks on History that I've been reading over many years. And also from a lifetime of reading National Geographic and Smithsonian magazines, and studying Archaeology and Anthropology as well as History at university. I'm glad other people mentioned some books for you, but I don't know what they say. Just be careful of your sources. Unnatural Vegan always gives her sources, which are solid, and that's a good reason to follow her. Make sure the source of information is good, that's the main thing. Are the authors of the book well-educated, and do they cite experts in the field of nutrition? Popular diet books often have no scientific evidence to back up what they're trying to sell you. Become picky about where you get your information. And also, don't be too serious about anything, no one eats "perfectly," just do your best.

We're still debating whether certain foods are "healthy" and "safe" but its clear theyre not so detrimental that we don't need to pull it from shelves. Same, she preaches loving your own body, but constantly worries about her appearance, which to me seems more and more fake that she actually believes everyone is beautiful in their own way. She's trying to adhere to social norms of nomad influencers as much as she says she hates norms.

This is why as a vegan "KZbinr" I guess if you could call me that lol, I never give health advice. I know enough to consider myself an idiot (considering the Dunning Kruger effect). I definitely believe in and can easily recall the years of scientific journals I've read and I'm glad to be eating healthy, but for entertainment purposes, I'd rather make content I love about vegan celebs/news and ethics. Hopefully, that'll lead to some new vegans!

Thank you so much for covering this. I follow her for a while now and got really confused after this video, feeling like my plate containing bulgur, tofu and veggies are not as healthy as I have thought. Which is fucking shitty when you are recovering from eating disorders. So thank you, really-really thank you!

I have learned a lot from Sorelle (for photography), but I've been struggling with her recently. I almost unfollowed her on instagram because her stories were fear mongering so much. She seems to have settled down a bit, but when someone has a platform like that they need to be careful with letting themselves fall into fear mongering and definitely need to be wary about promoting it. It directly impacted how I felt throughout the day.

I used to really like her but lately she's coming up with conspiracy like theories about 'rona & other stuff and I just can't. As a scientist myself it just hurts my brain hearing all of these entitled KZbinrs that act like they have the secret knowledge of the world while apparently the rest of us are just sleeping on it. As usual thank u for the video!

You should react to FullyrawKristinas video on how to eat socially. Where she tells a story of how she made her sisters birthday dinner all about her with her giant vegan salad when heart-shaped strawberries and all that crap. I would LOVE to know your reactions.

Honestly that’s just sad cringe. Eating is (or was) a social event, community. To make someone a meal or serve someone food is bonding & generally fun. I know someone who had to bring their own beans to eat to a BBQ because they were vegan and honestly I’d hate that. It’s so dividing

the thing i didn’t get about sorelles video is that she said water has micro plastics in it thus is bad. okay. bit extreme but i am not judging (yet) THEN later she says that FISH IS GOOD. fish has SOOOOO many microplastics in them as a byproduct from what is being put in the ocean... just rlly hypocritical...

She's pretty delusional about organics and pesticides. Organic agriculture can use pesticides, they are just limited as to which ones and in the end because they use less effective pesticides they end up using LARGER amounts of pesticides. As you state she speaks very authoritatively, on things she doesn't actually know much about. Hell I grow a lot of vegetables with no pesticides, and every single leafy green i grow ends up with 50% of the leaf missing because of bug damage.

I always feel like if my grandpa can make it to 93 without worrying about eating grains and how many cashews he's had in one day, then it's probably not worth worrying about xD like sure genetics play a role and we're from the Mediterranean with a Mediterranean diet, but the guy drank rosé wine all his life and didn't skimp on the cold cut meats or my gran's cooking for that matter. Basically, eat your veg and your good oils, don't eat packaged crap, but still enjoy your rosé and your cake. I swear these health gurus are going to go to an early grave through sheer stress about what they're eating. The pineapple's not gonna kill you, hun.

My ancestors all lived into their 80's and 90's and ate traditional German fare, and weren't adverse to the idea of tipping a few back now and then. Isn't it ironic that we're the only species that can eat such a varied diet and yet we need food charts, experts and apparently now YT ditzes like Amore to tell us what to eat?

Another terrific video, UV, thank you.😘 Many gems in this I could pull out and polish to highlight, but gonna stick with just one: you back up with sources the information you pass on to us. I so appreciate that. Do people realize you list the sources in the Info section? You give us facts (yay!) and you're sure to clarify if what's being said is your opinion or your own experience, both of which I happen to value. Sourcing what you say is just one of the facets of integrity I find in you and your channel.

Having just tried growing my own vegetable you know what's gross? When you get an aphid infestation and that food goes to waste because you didn't use some pesticides in order to actually be able to eat what you grew.

I think she was also meaning like "it doesnt grow there naturally so should be avoided cause not natural" which is mad cause like 2 videos ago she visited a green house heated by the geysers and talked about how amazing it was and how she wants to do that. Cant wait to see how she'll deal with aphids in her green house.

I live in the northern hemisphere and I grow plenty of fruit in my garden. Guess she forgot apples, pears, plums, peaches, grapes, melons, cherries, all sorts of berries, and much more grow here. In my region of Germany I can even grow figs and paw-paw fruit. Plus, tomatoes, cucumbers, courgettes, squash, pumpkin, beans, corn, etc., etc.? All fruits botanically. "Fruit" doesn't have to be pineapple or mango, FFS.
