I personally think the dim headlights look good (maybe its different than in person) but since these cars had lower voltage when they were made, it gives it even more of a realistic look

The dim headlights add to the build. It's very realistic to the era of this hot rod with scale realism

The Chevy has come out looking awesome, with a full interior and engine it's a real work of art! Can't wait to see what you do for the next one, and it'd be interesting to see what one with custom parts would turn out like.

The lights are actually fitting; the car had dim headlights, especially with the patina look, also the original taillights would be cracked and unbleached from age, allowing for the whiter light appearance. Overall have loved this build. As a model builder of 40+ years, I enjoy the content and appreciate your work. Now I am off to get the 3D printer, thank you😂

Spray the weathering with a clear before you put the final finish on top. It helps you to not burn through when you sand to get the effect you're looking for. To get an aluminum finish I'll spray the chrome with a matte finish and then come back with a dark wash. Panel line accent or water down some black craft paint. Looks like an old moonshiner's car. Good work.

Car looks great and the patina paint is even better but a driver bust 👤 would take it over the top 😊

As someone else said, 6 volt electronics were the norm when these cars were new, so to me, the dim headlights are perfect. Also, for surface rust on chrome bumpers, a cheap trick is to buy a jar of instant coffee and mash it into a fine powder. Apply matt or semi gloss clear and carefully sprinkle some of the coffee powder over it. Less is more. I reckon the Chev looks fantastic!

Looks great! Personally I'd like to see the next very realistic build to be WITH custom designed parts, just as a point of comparison to what can be done just using other people's pre-made parts vs putting in (a bunch) more work to design one's own
@MakeItRC8 ай бұрын
Thank you! All the parts used are designed by us, it just so happens every single component was already designed and posted on our Patreon prior to this project. A fun challenge, but It seems lots of folks both here and on Patreon want a build with new custom parts designs. I think that's what I'll do next. 👍

@@MakeItRC Perhaps it wasn't clear, I was writing from the perspective of the builder just as presented in the video, I have seen the CAD work done in some of the others when designing the parts so I'm aware

Ah, I understand now. Good point. 👍

Dude that is a sick build!!!

Fabulous inside and out, top to bottom. Both options but build off existing components benefits everyone sooner. Me at 10 yo, only had a tube of glue, a razor blade, a small paint brush and basic testers paint pack. No wonder my model only looked marginal.

Thank you! My models at 10 weren't great to say the least.😆 I learn a little with every project.

The headlights look perfect. They replicate the crappy 6V sealed beam brightness that it would have had stock, versus a more modern Hot Rod that would used halogen or LED headlights.
@MakeItRC8 ай бұрын
Thank you. Going with a warm colored LED vs the more common bright blue/white tone is a must IMO if you want the old school look. Unfortunately the headlights really don't project any light at all, even when in a dark environment. Hopefully I can find that "Goldilocks" zone of not too bright or too dim on the next build. 👍

The only thing I would do differently is change out the included wheels with painted steelies with the dog dish hub caps. Still looks awesome the way it is though.

would be interesting to get one of your kits either metal 3d printed or cnc machined

That would be awesome, but very expensive.

@@MakeItRC I might have to see how much it would take PCB way to 3d print one of your kits in metal

So you think you could build a Nissan Silvia S13 or S15 Drift Car out of a Aoshina kit?
@roberterzen15108 ай бұрын
I think a truck build should be done the same way
@MakeItRC7 ай бұрын
Would be cool. I'd really like to do a 4x4 truck, however the drivetrain and steer axle would be a little harder to make.
