Actually Turbo HD Remix was the game that had the most balance changes, including making the worse characters better and sometimes even adding new moves such as Ryu's fake fireball. USFII actually removes all of these changes except for the ability to tech throws.

Excellent review, thank you for that. I think I better understand why they charged $40 for the game. It’s a well-done definitive version of a classic, feature-rich and lovingly crafted, that you can currently only get on Switch. The HD graph and character models look really great and I love that they utilized VO from SF IV (or was it V?), and revamped the soundtrack even if not all the tracks are killer. This video made me crave Super SF II Turbo again. Awesome! And agreed, that first-person mode looks trash and will be completely ignored. Lol

Even the Switch being 300 or the PS4 slim being 250 is extremely cheap. The Super Nintendo was 250 back in 1991. Nothing to complain about. Life is 10 times easier today than it used to be.

Buddy battle should have been against the entire roster in each characters respective stages. Every "new" piece of content outside the art book, feels tacked on in a minimal effort to justify the $40 asking price. They should have include the animated movie and 3rd strike for this price and cut out way of the hado mode all together.

Scrolled through the comments and haven't seen it yet but just a heads up. For everyone wasting time using the controllers to use the color editor it's best to just use the touch screen. Works perfectly fine quick and accurate. Also this games worth the $40 I'd say. Have yet to put it down and the online play is practically perfect. It brings back days of being in an arcade vs whoever walked up. Only slight gripe was a bit of lag here or there but that was connection issue not game related. I can see this being a game that is discounted in the later days but for now I'm digging it!

To everyone complaining about the price tag. Yes, it is rather high. Yes, you barely get anything new game-wise. BUT. SF25: The Art of Street Fighter is going for $32 dollars on Amazon right now. Most of Ultra Street Fighter II's price tag is going towards the *250+ Page Artbook*. I think that alone is worth the $40 they're asking for this game. At least to a Street Fighter fan. I just bought Street Fighter II HD Remix and SF3 Third Strike for the PS3 and came out a lot cheaper for than USFII for the Switch. This game should have been no more than $20. HD Remix is $10 for the PS3!!!

For those of you complaining about this port. 1. Yes it's pricey but capcom wants their money's worth before the paid online service. 2. If there were any new characters it would turn away all the hardcore fighting game fan base and new 'fun' modes would do the same. 3. Violent ken is a nice addition for those of us who appreciate the SvC and Capcom vs SNK titles. 4. The buddy battle mode could be great if it had online capabilities too. Although the exclusion of arcade buddy battle (dramatic battle) is silly. 5. There aren't many people reviewing the game so the online wouldn't be an accurate representation either, that's to prevent unfair review scores. In short the game isn't perfect and is pricey, but for a hardcore fighting game fan it's 100% worth it. Plus it's an entry for this new to fighting game. What's the problem?

I've gotten Street Fighter 4 and Street Fighter cross Tekken +all DLC for around $40 on Steam, so they can fuck right off if they want $40 for Street Fighter II. The artbook is a nice addiction, but I can all the art I want online anyway.

PressAToPlay This isn't worth it at all. Most hardcore Street Fighter fans have no interest playing a slightly updated version of an 8 year old game that was itself an update to a now 25 year old game. The fact that it's 40 dollars isn't just pricey. It's an insult.

Sony doomed Street Fighter V. Imagine if Switch was able to get the full package of that game at lauch. Don't get me wrong Street Fighter II is fine and all but it's super old and Street Fighter V is the latest iteration that shouldn't have been exclusive to no one. If it wasn't a Sony exclusive Street Fighter V would have gotten Super Street Fighter V. at least give the Switch Ultra Street Fighter 4

I currently play the older re-release for gba on my soft modded Wii, if I get a switch I definitely plan to pick this up. I agree the price is kinda demanding for a game that's older than me by at least a decade lol but I personally prefer a alpha trilogy with updates & online and hopefully the Street Fighter 3 3rd strike goes from Ps Now to a actual download.

I would be perfectly happy if the Wonderboy 3 remake is the model by which future remakes go by: I love being able to switch between modern and classic graphics and soundtrack.

I'm sure the game will sell well, despite the price tag. It's unfortunate that Pocket Rumble hasn't released yet. I think that if PR was currently out, Street Fighter wouldn't sell quite as well. But since there's a lack of new fighting games to play (discounting the NeoGeo games on the eshop), people will be picking up SF based on name brand and lack of options alone.

I see a lot of people in the comments blaming Capcom for the price tag. We've seen overpriced retail games for Switch before this and that will continue to be a problem (MK8 Deluxe and Super Bomberman R, for example) because cartridges are still significantly more expensive to manufacture than Blu-ray discs.

The only realistic way for them to justify this price (since people already seemed to pre-order it) is to 1. Reduce the price of the digital version by $10 and 2. Announce that they will be adding additional content throughout the summer (with at least one by next week), to include an improved buddy battle 2 v1 mode, where you can actually do 2 v 2 with 4 players and against the entire roster of characters in their respective stages. Another thing they could add, is a demo for an upcoming port of a street fighter 4 complete (with new buddy battle 2v2 mode) and maybe even the SF 2 animated movie with Japanese language and enlglish subtitles. Until I see some sort of announcement for these features, I have decided not to even touch this game.

If anyone has never played SF2 before then they may not see a major issue at around $30-£30-30EU, but the solution is to just wait a few months and buy the cartridge second hand. The gameplay of SF2 still outperforms the modern 3D titles ;) Perhaps they could add extra features and characters through the online mode. Choosing the original game within USF2 could have included an emulated CRT monitor screen filter (similar to HLSL on MAME) for that retro look
