Why is this $40? Street Fighter 2 HD is essentially what they're releasing (which was released years ago for $20) with a co-op mode and two re-skinned characters.

Because it isn't HD Remix with multiplayer and 2 re skinned characters, While the game looks like HD Remix, it plays like classic Super Turbo II, As most old school gamers ( people who played the original Super Turbo II) did not like the changes in physics and game mechanics HD remix made. So this game is an actual sequel to Super Turbo II, it uses the classic game mechanics/physics and uses the sprites from HD Remix

Nah, SFV is better for sure for one reason. In SF2 the game lags for a split second or two every time you hit someone making combos feel laggy and slow.

Actually this game is different. The xbox arcade one had a different engine with different physics. This is essentially the EXACT same physics as SF2...

It's capcom what did you expect? We're talking about a company that puts dlc into something that's already in the disc, or that time when you had to paid to see the ending in asura's wrath. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

If this runs at 1920x1080 vs 256x224 for the snes that's about 36 times the detail, plus snes graphics are effectively 4 bits per pixel and this would be 32 bits, most likely so that bumps it up to 289 times the detail. Then there's more/better sound, more content, and more animations... But let's go with 'the new challengers' as a reference, which is I believe a 4 megabyte ROM. This, due to the changes additions and extra detail would be about 300 times bigger... So I predict about 1.2 gigabytes, minimum. Unless everything is heavily compressed of course. But yeah, that seems about right. Never underestimate just how demanding HD actually is. XD

At 19:40 the announcer says "Bison wins!" even though it says Balrog on the screen, and the American version has him named Balrog. I guess they need to fix that.

It's the Japanese version they're playing. The character in the west called Balrog who looks a lot like Mike Tyson is in Japan known as M. Bison AKA Mike Bison. I kid you not, they swapped the names of the shadaloo masters from the evil Dictator being named Vega, the clawed Spanish ninja being named Balrog to what we have in the west. Sagat is always Sagat no matter which part of the world you're in.

I think I prefer the pixelated original graphics more. This give the look of "papercut-dolls" fighting each other. 2D graphics that was pushing the limits back then is one thing... This looks kind of like a flashgame made by a fan or something.

Looks so good, can't wait! There playing the Japanese version though with the North American and PAL text over lay, when they win with Balrog the announcer says " BISON WINS"!
