if you mount it vertically - why do you insert the UV light form the top end ..?

Hello Salty Dog Streak, Thaks for the query Salty Dog Streak, the reason it is installed where the UV opening is on the top end, is to ensure that UV lamp will not fall out of the casing or housing The only thing that helds the lamp in place is a rubber cap, so to prevent slips regardless whether the rubber cap was removed or accidentally removed for somes reason, the UV lamp will still be safely secured in its place Also, the lamp can be 1 metre long for a whole house system, so you need at least 1 metre to remove the lamp when it is time to change it. It is just easier to mount the system with the lamp removed from the top. The other reason is water, it is better to have the electrical connection at the top and keep it dry rather than have water running down the housing onto the electrical connection.
