Ultralight BFS Review | Shimano Sensilite And Kastking Zephyr ($120 COMBO?)

We are finally doing a review of the BFS Combo! This ultralight BFS review is on my sub $120 combo of the Shimano Sensilite Rod ($50) and the Kastking Zephyr BFS Reel ($70). This combo is pretty slick looking and great for 1/16 oz to 1/4 oz lures. Let's put it to the test on the water today and see how it does!

Yeah, i got the 7’4 Dobyns Ultra Finese Casting Rod and the Curado BFS. Match made in heaven for ned rigs.

For sure! Just got a Daiwa Alphas and paired it with my Cashion kayak cranking rod until the Megabass Hyuga I have on order arrives. The Alphas is as smooth as butter! The setup will probably become my go-to for drop shot. Never throwing a spinning rod again...lol

BFS is what the best ultralight gear would be, if no one had invented the spinning reel.

I disagree, it definitely has it's on place. I prefer casting small cranks, chatters, spinners, etc on BFS over spinning.

Yes, love it, my personal setup is the Shimano Calcutta Conquest BFS pair up with the Shimano Cardiff Native Special 54UL rod I mainly used for stream fishing for trout and panfish

that is my setup, enjoy it a lot. I would like to try a better brand BFS and see the difference. I use straight mono, the braid kept breaking on me on my bfs

How well do you think this combo would handle a 1/32 ounce jighead? Obviously it would probably be closer to 1/16 with the plastic on the jighead and I want to use 4lb test line.

It can do it for sure. I fish Mule donkey tails jrs on this. I prefer spinning though

Just a small tip,, bend tour hooks up just a little bit on those smaller lures. It has helped my hook up rate a lot

I got the zephyr to try out BFS. It’s definitely better than I expected but I have to re line it everyday because the line keeps jumping the spool and getting stuck inside the reel. Did yours do that with the mono?

I bought one of those cheap Ozark trail bait casting combos from Walmart and the reel did that exact thing. The line would go between the spool and the body of the reel. I've never had that happen ever and I've owned a ton of bait casters

I use 8 pound spiderwire braid on my zephyr no issues with the line getting stuck on the spool, ever. Running it on a 4"6 ugly stick and 6"0 ugly as well . I'm throwing a weightless wacky

I had the same thing happen with my GH100. I added some clear nail polish to the reel frame to fill it in. It's easy to do if you slowly add it coat by coat and is removeable with acetone if you have issues.
