I bought this tent on Tuesday, used it right away on the top of a mountain. I don't really mind the color, even though it will show dirt faster than other tents. I attached it on the bottom of my 30L backpack and the size and weight are perfect. There is obviously something lighter and smaller out there, but for the price it's really good. And I usually take 2 trekking poles with me because I find them very convenient, so no added weight for me. I saw some comments on Instagram saying that "you should consider the weight of the trekking poles because it can't be used without them". If you don't usually take them with you, just don't buy this tent. They are supposed to be an item you use and not something you only bring with you to mount your tent

There is actually a guy that dyed his naturehike tent. I bet since they did not use dye at all with this tents, you could dye the outer fly relatively easy. Worth a shot since Decathlon also sells the cover seperately.

I do like the design of this tent and how light it is but the white is off putting despite it targeting the area of being more environmentally friendly. Have bought this tent to use on Tour Du Mont Blanc this summer, set up in the garden to make sure its all good. Nice and solid, plenty of space inside for me (5''10 avg build). Coloud doesnt bother personally, but would be nice to have options. Bought different pegs from amazon as those just seemed really weak. Love the size on weight, really contributes to a light pack.

A nice review on a nice bit of kit, thanks. Pegs, hmm? The most of the people who buy a tent like this probably have several sets of pegs at home already, and so maybe a moot argument. However, some of the places I go have very gravelly, stoney ground and the supplied pegs are excellent at going into the ground and holding fast.

Ace video Andy...I'm even more swayed to buying it now. Yes the colour's contentious but it's also a reason Forclaz can keep the costs down. I think the best thing to do is use it lots and it'll soon start to look less white and begin to blend in!

I think the criticisms you make are valid especially the colour. Even on Dartmoor the DNPA state "Small and lightweight tents which easily blend into the landscape". Also in the UK with the amount of wind and rain that 2000mm HH is a slight concern, I'd like something a bit more overall sturdy for the sideways rain on Dartmoor. That being said, if you're doing something like the coast path and stopping at camp sites along the way just to sleep for the night, I think it's a great option. Just not for me.

Regarding color, nobody's excited about white color, but it's definitely not made for UK market only, where you have problems with camping in general. Decathlon does business world-wide where stealth camping just isn't a must. I'd love to see another colored version, but knowing Decathlon it's going to be gray with orange accent 😂 Also they released a video on Instagram where they tested this tent at 100 km/h wind, and it was still standing. It's miserable inside, but the tent remained whole. They also released a trick video where you can undo those tiny pegs with another peg when you form a letter T and pull them out. I have these pegs for my tarp and they are definitely doing the job well, but I haven't used them in a variety of conditions so far.

Every tent will get dirty anyway, it's just not going to be such a striking contrast :P I don't mind the white, would love it to have some colour though, but I guess that "eco" badge is a bold statement. My "issue" is that with the 2 poles it's still going to be around 1.3kg, which is in the territory of my cheapo chinese Naturehike Tagar 2, which has more room inside and still is cheaper. I often use it for bikepacking trips, so the weight "saved" by not carrying trekking poles is negated anyway.

You mention that it will look second hand after the rain and weather gets to it. I imagine after packing it in the mud it will end up a fantastic brown/green colour thay would blend in really well. They seem to have limited stock of this one, so being white doesn't seem to bother too many people and it's better for the environment we are all wanting to enjoy, having said that I do wonder if the material started white or it was bleached.

920 grams is the weight without trekking poles though as they do need to be taken into consideration unless you plan on using it as a bivvi bag lol 1.2-1.6kg maybe depending on poles I would say is a more accurate weight estimate total. With regards to the white colour, i think it might actually be counterproductive on the eco front, my mind is telling me that people buying cheap tents are more likely to ditch the tent once it's looking ropey and discoloured meaning more will end up in landfill. And instead of dyeing them in large batches at the source the people that are willing to dye themselves will be actually creating more damage than if had been dyed in batches by the manufacturer. Also as its white people will probably be cleaning more than they would if it were green and ergo will have to reproof it more often. Seems more a way of passing that buck onto the customer to be able to say its more eco. Id like to be wrong on this, but....
@seankelleher4222

The only thing way to defeat your first criticism is to raise the price. If what you say is true it would apply to a cheap green tent but more so.
@jonnythelegs2597
@jonnythelegs2597 Жыл бұрын
@@seankelleher4222 my first criticism is more about the people that discard tents than the tents themselves, unfortunately I don't think there is a reasonable way of making that problem going away without ruining it for more responsible people and those on lower budgets and that really sucks. Although saying that festivals organisers could probably find a way of adding some form of accountability for those attending, maybe some kind of tagging or numbered plot system where tents could be linked to their owners would help. Again this would affect those on lower budgets because the cost of implementing that would be passed onto them as well as those that wouldn't have just discarded their tents when they leave. This wouldn't solve the problem as a whole but it would probably take a fairly large and ecological noticeable chunk out of it.

Absolutely ridiculous colour for a tent. Doesn't surprise me coming from a company that only makes hiking pants in one leg length. Not only will it get mega dirty it will stick out like a sore thumb!

But I should say thanks for the video it does look like a good tent if it were in a more traditional colour.
