Packing for lightweight easy and compact travelling in Southeast Asia - Ultralight Minimalist Backpacking Holiday Travel. Under 1.5kg. Under 3lb!
I’ve been packing, repacking, buying. Slimming, discarding, evaluating and finally selecting my travel kit for a long time and have finally got around to filming this. I laugh when I see the ultralight minimalist webpages and videos - SO MUCH STUFF!!! I’m lazy, I don’t want to carry unnecessary stuff. If I’m fishing, camping, hiking, scuba diving, kayaking or whatever I carry as little as I need. And so, here we are - everything I need to go indefinitely around Southeast Asia during dry season. This is packed for 3-4 weeks in Laos and Myanmar, a trip that was cancelled in March by Covid and it looks like being another year at least before it might happen. 3 weeks in Cambodia and Vietnam in January 2020 saw two of us with less than 3kg each - you just need to remember that you only need 24hrs of clothing in reserve, live day to day, washing in sinks…and if you want to save space as well as weight hen learn to ranger roll!
Welcome to my channel, I hope you enjoy watching all the kayak fishing around the UK, mostly in the North Sea - in the sea and river, fishing for cod, bass, tope, dogfish, smoothound, thornback ray, whiting, wrasse and anything else I can target There's scuba diving off the North Norfolk Coast and Suffolk, wreck diving, reef diving, river diving, even Cenote Diving, in the Red Sea off Egypt, the Mediterranean off Malta and Gozo and in Mexico, Brazil, Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, Pembrokeshire in Wales, Swanage and Plymouth and of course the diving with sharks in South Africa. There's kayaking too, including surfing sailing and touring in the UK and abroad and a bit of snorkelling, Plenty of videos too of me fiddling with and driving my classic car, a 1973 Triumph Spitfire and other cars get a look in too. There's cooking, eating, travelling around various cities in Europe - Berlin in Germany, Naples and Rome in Italy, plus the Vatican; Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv and elsewhere in Bulgaria; Lefkosia / Nicosia and much of Cyprus, Krakow in Poland, there's Malta too. Istanbul in Turkey just outside Europe too, and Egypt around Hurghada. Further afield there's a bit of South Africa and Latin America with the Mayan Riviera of Mexico and Rio de Janeiro, Paraty and Isla Grande in Brazil. There's even a bit of Northern Ireland and parts of England mixed in with the nonsense of East Anglia in a camper van with my daughters! If you enjoy one video please watch another and consider subscribing so you don't miss future uploads however crap they might be! Thanks and regards, Mark

This is great. This is how my hubby and I travel with our three kids. Even when we had a toddler and two babies. Five people one bag. We actually went to a cold Climate too and just layered the kids. Lighter travel is better!

It totally is isn't it! Far more freedom. Unless I go on a diving trip it's always hand luggage for me, lighter the better!

One more note Marlino wool socks, and travel underwear both dry very quick. Bought 2 pair of travel pants quick dry they have a hidden pocket so no need worry about getting robbed.

Yes, merino stuff is really good and worth the money but I went for the lightest and most compact options I could take and these tiny socks are only for use on the aircraft / UK side - In warm climates I don't wear socks as I feel my feet are better left to breathe. Hidden pockets are excellent - I had a great pair of boardshorts with a hidden pocket by the knee that held my passport totally out of the way.

Hi never seen such light travel packing .I don’t know about this feels like we used to pack the children’s bags when they went to school or kindy ( one set of spare clothes) Happy travelling 🇦🇺

Well yeah, it's a bit extreme but the reality is I just don't use half the crap I carry. Just back from Egypt where I took about 3kg because I had 23kg allowance for my dive kit (used 16kg of it). Most of the stuff came back unused ten days later.

I use crystal deodorant buy stick and cut an inch off the bar with a saw. I use a lush shampoo bar, for cloths hair and hand washing cloth. I pack 3 shirts 3 underpants 3 socks. 1 travel pants. I'm going to cut back to 2 shirts 2 underpants and 2 sock for my week trip to England in Sept thanks for the extra inspiration.
@Codbotherer
@Codbotherer 3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. I haven't used a deodorant stick for years, it always made me feel sticky and glued my underarm hair together from memory but I've just googled crystal deodorants and they aren't the same. My girlfriend bought a shampoo bar for our last trip (3 weeks in Vietnam and Cambodia, 2.5kg for me, 3kg for her as she needs all the female skin and hair stuff). I often (but not always) buy a t-shirt as a souvenir when i'm somewhere which does increase my weight for the return flight though previously I travelled with worn out clothing which I ditched once dirty and replaced with those I purchase along the way. England in september should be mild which helps on weight as you don't need to pack a spare top but it may rain at times. It's actually my favourite month of the year except for May which has the psychological addition of being when life starts to look brighter! Enjoy your trip - which part of England are you visiting?

You spray other passengers with the deodorant? jk jk ;-) It's a good kit! I don't travel by air much now but I am getting used to lighter and lighter with everything when I do travel. In fact, I am lighter! Lost weight by chance when I made a diet change for health. =D I don't have a smart phone but they are extremely useful. I just am very frugal about that. Phone deals are getting cheaper and cheaper though so I may take a look soon. When I travel (on land) I make sure I have a small torch and put it on the nightstand. If power goes out, all good.
@Codbotherer
@Codbotherer 3 жыл бұрын
Ha, some of them would need it sometimes for sure! Well done on the weight loss - always makes me feel better when I drop a pound or two! A good smart phone is worth its weight - camera, video, torch, maps, information, banking, alarms, booking stuff, guidebooks, stuff to read and entertainment and of course staying in touch with people. Tickets and check ins are always handy too, and local recommendations. My contract at home is cheap and covers europe and I sometimes buy a cheap sim when I'm in anther country so that I don't have to keep looking for free wifi. I can't believe how much easier it is than the old days of travelling without one - it's lighter than a lonely planet guide too.

Laundry with the silicone disc as a plug and the white leaves for powder. I don't shave when I'm away and only ever cut to stubble anyway, once a month or so, so that would not be a big deal anyway. Can't take razor blades on flights either.

Looks like sea to summit laundry sheets and body wash sheets. They also make shampoo, conditioner and hand wash sheets. Just repackaged into pill baggies. For a towel i love the matador nano dry( they also make a mini) or honestly a thin layer of silk fabric or sarong will work for many different things.
