This is pretty damn genius. I didn't even think about doing something like this. I think what I would likely do is just string out the amount I need and just wrap it around one of my pens or just anything in general. But I never even considered getting around the dental floss container.
@MeZillch2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. One potential problem with pre-diepensing dental floss is it no longer is being kept in a sterile environment. So whatever is pre-dispensed needs to be encapsulated in some manner to keep out pocket lint, etc.. Tiny zip lock bag maybe?

Trim down the center tower in the spool and file a plus/cross shaped hole, then you'll have extra storage space in the floss-cap and it will fit a cross head screwdriver bit for rewinding new floss onto the spool.

It would be nice to have a series of different ALTALOID cans of LUCK STRIKE cans which are bigger for different purposes: fire starter kit, hygiene kit, survival kit, emergency food, emergency medical kit, etc. Some times combined with bigger containers that are less compact, I don´t think you can fit a quality tourniquet or combat hemostatic gauss in an Alkaloids can, and sometimes you need a larger container to collect and boil water.

I’ve taken your idea & “warmed” up some deodorant shavings into and empty chapstick for a a mini-deodorant stick. My tests are 1 weeks’ worth :) and the mini-chapstick is a 3-day weekend.

Greetings, I have been watching your videos for quite some time now and your ability to take items and compact them into such a small size is simply incredible. I wanted to offer an idea to you that might possibly be of interest. Have you ever thought about using 3D printed materials to make the cases for your items? Things like the dental floss container would be fairly easy to print on a 3D printer and might give you even better results. Just my 2 cents. Thank you for producing these videos my son and I love them!
@MeZillch3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I'm sure you are right that a 3D printer would allow me to create all sorts of stuff but half the fun is thinking things up on my own and repurposing things I already own. Cheers.
@pauljcohen20073 жыл бұрын
I completely understand and appreciate you’re using things that are easily found. I just happen to have a 3D printer and was curious if it ever crossed your mind. Keep up the good work.

is there a way to use a fish hook fo other uses than to catch fish? urban survival for the most part has no use for hooks.
@MeZillch5 жыл бұрын
Good point. They are so small and light weight so it hardly takes up much room in a kit. As for other uses they can be used as mini "grappling hooks" say to throw a line over a tall tree branch/fence, etc.. Also I once dropped my keys down my building's elevator door crack on the floor and successfully retrieved them with a hook on a line as I lied on the floor peering through the crack and illuminated the elevator shaft below with my AAA flashlight.
