Crazy to think that 40+ yrs went by so quick. The end of the 70s were great in my eyes. I can think back to my family members dancing at the house parties when they were young. Now most are in their 60s, 70s, and 80s now or they are no long with me anymore. But the music takes me back.

Wow! Great selections! I seem to remember hearing Ricki Lee Jones' "Chuck E.'s In Love", Supertramp's "The Logical Song", and Cheap Trick's live version of "I Want You To Want Me" on the radio that whole summer. And, of course, Billboard's top hit of the year: The Knack's "My Sharona" (R.I.P. Doug Fieger). All these songs bring back so many wonderful memories as a kid.

Being born in the 60s and to see so many of the group's from then still just as great thru the 70s and into the 80s just shows real music is timeless. It's a shame it stopped about 1985 but it was a good run for a lot of these groups. It's a shame the garbage kids listen to now. Thank God for KZbin. The classics will never disappear. Thank you.

The best years for music, for me, were between 1975 and 1985. From 1986 onwards, there were still the odd good record, but when that Chicken song by Spitting Image came along in 1986, that was the turning point. Music, downhill from there.

What an absolutely insane year. I love pop and disco. But you have to take into account that it was a massive year for New Wave, Punk and Electronic. Gary Numan. The Clash. A little new band called The Cure. A massive disco hit called We Are Family that was the theme song for the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough. HIGHWAY TO HELL. Talking Heads. The Police's second album. Elvis Costello's best album. Fleetwod Mac's best-selling album. A great album by Supertramp. And an epic album by Pink Floyd called The Wall. I can go on and on. 1979 was MASSIVE.
@charmelizabeth85843 жыл бұрын
You cited some great songs/bands Brendan A. MacWade, that were also coming out at the time. You could hear in the variety of genres, the change in sound that was about to take place, by the end of the 70s. I like the softer songs too, but I really started to get into Gary Numan and the punk and rock sound. Harder rock is still my favorite!
