btw the weird murrina theme was the side effect of requiring the GTK2 murrine engine for installing the Fluent theme. So the reason it looked like adwaita is because it *is* adwaita, its the fallback theme.

Tyler, Thank you for a very very good presentation. I am a long time Fedora user, and your presentation today was showing me what can be built from Fedora xx. I got a good feeling that this distribution will win many converts. When you were away, I an old grandpa, was wondering if you were ill. I am glad and relieved to see you A OK. May I wish you the very best of the season. Have a great Christmas, a happy New Year, and with everything that goes with it. Most of all, good health, no corona virus, and prosperity for the coming and future years. Extend those wishes to your immediate family. Leslie from Montreal, Canada

The creator said that he wanted to make Fedora Budgie an official spin at some point. Don't know if he is still trying to make it an official spin. Still good to know that a Fedora Budgie spin might be a thing in the future.

Little Status: i do really like ultramarine linux. i only personally had issues with the volume mixer of budgie - and that i needed to install gnome tweaks to fix mouse acceleration to "flat". i was able to workaround the issue with the volume mixer, but i really wanted to get it to work with the raven menu (i have a very weird audio setup, lets just say this) So that means i sadly will not daily drive ultramarinelinux, and im open for recommendations of the community. slowly thinking rolling my own Arch would make the most sense after so much distrohopping.

This distro reminds me of another distro that's no long supported and that was Korora
@CupoChinoMusic3 жыл бұрын
Well we wanted it to be like Korora actually
@tell19983 жыл бұрын
@@CupoChinoMusic if you're one of the devs that's great that this distro idea was to be a pick up to Korora. Korora I heard gotten a lot of people into Fedora

It looks very nice, just not sure what differentiating value it brings, but it is very nice looking. The tiling is atrocious though in comparison to how easy it is to use in Windows 11; this requires way more effort with mouse movements and clicking to set each window to tile. I wonder if they are using Fedora's Selinux and their command based firewall - two things I hate in Fedora. I'm also curious is it EXT4 or ButterFS filesystem and Zram? I will research this on my own but Fedora has much more advanced features than a typical Ubuntu based distro.
@CupoChinoMusic3 жыл бұрын
It does. also Ultramarine is essentially a spritual successor to Korora, so its meant to be as simple as possible for new users and powerful when needed.

Be interesting to see where this distro goes in the future seeing as how the Budgie team is moving away from GTK while Fedora is very heavily invested in it. Perhaps a Budgie fork?

What is the difference between this and fedora you are basically explaining the DE not the distro.
@KatyushaLauncher2 жыл бұрын
The difference is that Ultramarine is more user friendly than Fedora, because Ultramarine enables essential features that are disabled by Fedora, such as RPM Fusion, Multimedia codecs, DNF configurations, and many more.

btrfs, no thanks. I left Fedora over that.
@bzizmza2 жыл бұрын
what problems did you encounter while using btrfs?
@bactanite2 жыл бұрын
@@bzizmza GRUB no longer worked. Even after reformatting and changing to another distro it still didn't work with one of my computers. The other one still doesn't have a visible GRUB menu even though Fedora is long gone. With btrfs I wouldn't record streaming audio with Audacity anymore. I upgraded from Fedora 33 to 34 and still had the same problems. Moreover, with 34 I couldn't customize the Gnome desktop. Fedora was a great distro while using versions 28 - 32, but I won't go back until they fix things and make it easy to install with Ext4. I ended going back to Debian, and it is working out for me.
