The video is old and you have many subscribers so I doubt you will answer, but maybe someone else will know and can tell me: Does Zorin OS (or Linux in general) have or at least have the ability to have a Quick Action bar/toggles like they are on the left side of the screen on windows if you click the button to open the bar besides the system clock? (You know, toggles for e.g. turn BT on/off, day/night mode, wifi on/off,... .)

Nice presentation.... Seems to work well despite its beta status. Too bad it's only UEFI... I still have plenty of usable Legacy Bios systems that could use an Immutable type system.... It Vanilla OS is on the list wait for the new updated version based on Debian Sid. According to the Vanilla's OS website the tools to install should operate similarly to the old Ubuntu version but the major change is that Vanilla OS uses OCI images when dealing with package installation (of course you could use flatpaks instead) basically a big OS wrapper around distrobox/Apx. This is quite different from Arkane Linux which works using packages directly. It could be a hardware compatibility nightmare or not.... we will have to see....

If you want a cube, it would be useful to 4 desktops because a cube has 4 sides not 2, a top and bottom. not a bug.

Interesting how far they went emulating Windows 11, yet it still seems unpolished. But yeah, I definitely don't see anyone paying for this given its current state. Also, BTW, Ubuntu is pronounced "oo-boon-too", not "oo-bun-too".

Few issues I faced after updating to plasma 6: 1. Latte Dock doesn't work 2. Many SDDM, global themes, splash screen don't work & lesser options available. 3. Default panel still not transparent 👎🏻 4. The left side menu in system settings turned upside down from 5.27 which make it confusing. 5. Many plasmoids like modern clock doesn't work. Otherwise it's good update.

choosing base distro as arch for creating an immutable distro is a weird choice in my opinion. you use arch but you install everything as flatpaks, that doesn't sound logical to me. the main allure of arch is the latest packages and aur.

This is pretty neat. Like you said at the end I hope the devs find the time to keep working on it

Thanks for the video! However, the real problem of having GNOME and KDE together is not their software: it's that you should not use the same user to run both. For example, once you've used KDE, if you switch back to GNOME, some configs will be messed up. I don't think Arkane would help in that respect.
@octopusonfire1008 ай бұрын
That's a very long-winded way to get OpenSuse. Jokes aside, the whole immutable thing looks really interesting and will likely become a standard in the future.

Low RAM usage is not a good indication for a good system. If the system preloads things to RAM and you have lots of RAM available, this makes sense. It speeds up things, reduces CPU time and SSD wear. Also the RAM components may not be compressed when you have much to save CPU time. If you have lots of RAM, your system should use more.

Dude, idk if you're an atheist or believes on something. But man, God bless you and your videos. Take it as good vibes, not as an insult! I like them bc I like checking out distros and new tech. I'm an inthusiast. But i don't have time and hardware to distrohop all the time using a virtual machine. Good good content. edit: I have a lot of important stuff in my pc as well, so i'm afraid to make my computer have amnesia...

I bet KDE still going to mess up Gnome configs even though it's a separate deployments. Because config files are stored in user home dir.

Fedora Atomic easier imo. This seems more complicated.

Nice video. Looks like a cool distro. 4:46: Be aware that using a swap file on Btrfs without switching off data COW will make your system unusable in record time. It must also be pre-allocated and should be on its own subvolume because subvolumes with active swap cannot be snapshotted. The Btrfs filesystem must only be single-device, so no raid.

Nothing beats OpenSuse kalpa for me for immutable Linux distributions. Second place for me is Aurora-dx, a kde version of bluefin-dx.

If I move to immutable, this may be the one. You can have both Kde and Gnome on Arch. I need to try Arkane first, but I think I like this over VanillaOS even though I'm currently on SID.

ArchyOS has ZFS available directly from the Calamares installer. Just uncomment extra-testing in /etc/pacman.conf to get Plasma 6 sooner than later.
@DCM777.9 ай бұрын
Archy is a mess and ZFS moved to openZFS (Did Archy do that? No!) And adding Testing to your Repo's is also bad because it can brake the Distro! So don't do that unless you have a seperate Distro just for testing!
@MarkConstable9 ай бұрын
@@DCM777. I've been running Manjaro testing for half a decade and in ArchyOS for 2 two weeks and no problems with either. As for booting on ZFS, I'll take it any which way as long as I don't have to set it up manually. I've been using it with Proxmox for 3 years and I want the ability to use snapshots and send/recv on my desktop for backups.

Been using kde on my desktop and gnome on my laptop. I do like how gnome looks better but I like the productivity of kde. I ultimately used gnome on my laptop because of the gestures but i think its time to use kde on my laptop as well. With gestures and the overview working better there isnt much keeping me on gnome. I am curious about resource use, i have an older laptop, gnome has historically and in my experience with different devices, been slightly heavier than kde.
