Let's go together through the whole process of a full vinyl cleaning by using the most effective method, which is Ultrasonic cleaning. Watch it until the end and don't forget to subscribe.
(had to disable audio in the end since Neil Young has a very extreme copyright and blocks out the video unfortunately I knew about it once it finished uploading it after editing the video, so I replaced it with a youtube song).

Great video.I also use the same Vevor ultrasonic machine & love it. My method is to only use a small cap full of alcohol in with the water. I've learned from the experts that putting anything else in the water, although won't hurt anything (as long as you rinse the record off) really has no benefit. I also have a record cleaning vacuum machine to clean up the water after its bath. My results are like yours. It is amazing what a difference it makes!. Anyone who takes this hobby seriously needs one of these. And the Vevor is reasonably priced considering that most are between $500 - $4000!

I would only add surfactant , i really see a big difference between adding surfactant or not... they cleaning is a bit deeper.. besides that, as you said, it's enough the way you're doing, and it's also okey doing it without surfactant, probably just keeping it more time under the proces. but very good machine! indeed! i use it a lot, even for guitar parts.

Awesome video man. Just bought this exact ultrasonic tank and can't wait to get cleaning! Do you find in your experience is the isopropyl alcohol necessary, or would just distilled water and surfactant suffice?
@excentor
@excentor 8 ай бұрын
Hey! thanks for posting... it is not a requirement, I only use the alcohol if the record is really old ,and they have dirt on the grooves that seems to be not easy to remove, otherwise it's not necessary... I would use it only on very old records.

Sweet setup is that a aftermarket attachment that’s is sold as an addition to a ultra sonic machine ? If so where can I get one ? I see you are far away overseas, cause you have the 220v outlets. I was a bit confused cause I see your wearing a T- shirt from my neck of the woods “ The Bronx “ cool shirt ..thanks for sharing.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

hehehehe thanks for commenting! I'm in Europe, it's 230V here, but you can find this machine in USA, Canada/america as well for 110v. In fact it's probably 110v/240v compatible. It's aftermarket but was sell with the machine, apparently VEVOR make this device for rotating records as well, it's in fact a very good gadget for this purpose!

Why re-use dirty water? Dump it and use clean distilled water every time
@excentor
@excentor 8 ай бұрын
depending on how dirt is the water, I filter it and re use a couple of time, there's no need to replace it every time you are gonna clean records, can last a couple of batches for sure. Anyway it's up to you if you want to replace it more often you can do it.

Hola.
@excentor
@excentor Жыл бұрын

Hi, thanks for the video! How many batches can you clean with the same liquid mix? In other words, when do you know it's time to use a new liquid mix?
@excentor
@excentor 9 ай бұрын
thanks for commenting! well there's no such info, but you will notice a lot of dirt/mud and then it's time to replace it..... to be honest I do not clean so often, but probable 200 or 250 vinyls would be okey and then you replace it.
@excentor

also have in mind if you use a surfactant they usually expire after some time or they lose their properties, I would say 6 months or so. It's better if you can save the mix into the fridge, it extends its life as well.

Learn what ultrasonic cleaner does!!!!!!!! Learn how it works. YOU DON'T ADD ANYTHING TO THE WATER!!!!!!!!!! If you do only thing you do is you leave the record with a film of solution. THAT IS BAD!!! Also if you live in a city and have clean filtered city water you don't need distilled water. Totally pointless. 2-5 minutes max!!
@excentor
@excentor 10 ай бұрын
I'm sorry, but you're wrong, you need to add surfactant if you pretend to clean very deep into the grooves, otherwise you're not removing what is really inside. And alcohol isopropyl is also required. It's a total different world if you need to work on other stuff and not a vinyl. You can google or research a little bit and will confirm it. And ALWAYS but ALWAYS use distilled water and never other. You dont want to add stuff to the grooves, you want to remove stuff from the grooves. If yhou're gonna do this please research before doing it otherwise you will end up ruining or not cleaning properly your vinyls.. It doesn't matter if they are cheap, but if they are expensive ones, you want to do it properly. One las tthing, since you need to warm the water a little bit, it takes 20 minutes or 15, if you do it 2 or 5 you're not doing anything at all. I hope you learn from this, thank you !

@@excentor You obviously don't know how ultrasonic works. It doesn't need solvents. And not heating the water before just proves it. Vinyl doesn't repel water so you are wrong there also. Also city water is soft, chlorinated and filtered and there is no problem and no damage. Next time stick your finger in and see how fast the ultrasonic works and dirt starts to come off in an instant. Vinyl is soft material and you don't want to keep it in any longer than is needed. Records wear down every time you play or clean them. Do not over do it. It is pointless. Only time alcohol can help is finger prints at very mild solution and damp microfiber cloth before the wash just gently wipe them off. But if you are careful user you don't get finger prints. Even so you should never mix your records with alcohol. It also removes oils from the record itself and makes them brittle over time.

@@paulboyce8537 dude.. years doing it, no damage at all, in fact they sound amazing after buying vinyls 2nd hand and giving this bath.. so appreciated all your advises, I do it in a different way with excellent reults, so apparently there's no only one way to do it or mix liquids. You can check the mixes/liquids that are sell online for cleaning vinyls, and also you can check some "components" not all of them that they have, for sure it's not only "water" and has isopropyl alcohol.. some people get it wrong and uses regular alcohol and that really is an issue. Also it's a 90% - 10% or 80% - 20% depending on how much you need to clean, it's not so much alcohol either.. anyways, thank you for posting and interacting! have a nice day

@@excentor Unfortunately when it is 10c worth of solvent sold in $100 bottle everyone wants to sell it. Ask yourself is the water clean after 10 sec. Well it is not. The point of using distilled water only has already lost it meaning in 10 sec. KZbin is full of scammers that are trying to sell you the only product you can use and the best. They are all scammers or fallen as victim. Audiophiles are strange bunch of people that seem to want to make things complicated. Just image your $1000 stylus going through the groove with a film of solvent in it. One it blocks sound and other it cakes on the stylus. Stylus is very delicate and for sure you don't want anything on it if you can help it as cleaning can damage the stylus.
