What a great review! I've found the same quirks about Salomons- an oddly long foot (yet narrow) and a heel that doesn't seem to cup as securely, but once I tried on a men's size, I absolutely fell in love- surprising, since I've been a Hoka girl for years, and recently loved the Topo- both known for max cushioning and roomy toe boxes. This model sounds like it might be a great option for me! And I laughed when you said you " had the opportunity to submerge them"... up to your waist. 🤣 😂
@UltraTrailSteven3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, Kelly! You would probably like them! These have comfort of the Speedgoat, but feel more stable. Haha yeah submerged DEEP!

Came back to see this review now that these are discounted. Love my SG5 but for the price on these now, worth checking them out.
@UltraTrailSteven Жыл бұрын
Yeah for $70 bucks I would say they are with it!
@inthedirt3224 Жыл бұрын
I just got some for half price...version 1. with the speedlaces - you're supposed to roll the end fob with the laces and then tuck that into the pouch. the fob inserts into the pouch without much problem.

Yep thats what I do now too.

It is really an amazing shoe. By far my favorite at the moment on the trails but I think I am capping out at 200 miles with them. Great review! Glad you enjoyed them.

Thanks for sharing! I'll be curious to see how they do with more miles.

Currently using the Salomon U. Glide and North Face Flight Vective in a rotation for trails. Salomon easy trail long pace, while the N.F. Flight is a great race shoe “currently on sale” 🤙🏽😉 wish everyone a great 2022 race year. Always Steven great review and discussion on how the shoe works in the trail environment ✅

Thank you, Michael! The North Face Flight Vectiv is one I would like to try for sure! Wishing you the best in 2022 as well!

Well you are very good at doing shoe reviews!! Nice job. They look look like a great shoe. I have a pair of Salomon Wildcross for when it gets really muddy here in the winter but since I started wearing Altras and Vivo’s they feel a bit snug!
@UltraTrailSteven3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate that!

Sorry to say, have 267 miles in my ultras, and they are not as bouncy as they were in the start, but still a great shoe. Everything else on the shoe is high quality as always with Salomon
@UltraTrailSteven3 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear you are still liking them!

Excellent review Steven. Love the upper, looks really breathable. Not a fan of the lace system, can you swap them out for normal laces? Do you prefer these over the Zinal and Torrents?
@UltraTrailSteven3 жыл бұрын
I think I still like the Zinal better for a 50k or below, but the Ultra Glide would be my choice for 50-100 miles probably. I do like these better than the Torrent 2 I think. I think they may breathe better.

Really like the sound of these shoes Steven! If I was to buy a Salomon shoe this would be the one. All their other shoes look uncomfortable I bet they ain't but they just have a look of being stiff like a football boot. Great review bud! 😎🤘🏻
@UltraTrailSteven3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Ben! I have always heard Salomon shoes are notoriously narrow as well, which is why I was excited to try the Ultra Glide when I heard they were more wide.

Hey Steven! Great review. As another runner who's never run in Salomons, I appreciate your perspective! Just wondering... is a Lace Garage anything like a Bikini Car Wash?! 😆

I have a brand new pair that I have yet to really try! Now that winter has rolled in I am hesitant to break them in in snow and thinking maybe I should wait for spring. Will keep on using my trusty Sense Ride through the winter I think.
@UltraTrailSteven3 жыл бұрын
The grip on these would be nice in snow, but not frozen or icy conditions. Thanks for watching, Nicolas!
@trailrunningnic3 жыл бұрын
@@UltraTrailSteven The grip is probably similar to the Sense Ride (same outsole, same lug pattern...) so it should be fine. For very icy conditions I have amazing crampons I can wear over my shoes.

Great shoe for a narrow toe-box runner; but I find it too narrow even compared to my SenseRide 4, hope the next version is a bit more accomodating. Any distance over 5-7 miles is instant blisters.
@UltraTrailSteven3 жыл бұрын
That’s interesting because I found it to be average width. I have actually had to wear wide in some shoes, but not these. Thanks for the insight
@ericperramond34633 жыл бұрын
@@UltraTrailSteven yeah, no doubt through ankle and midfoot, but it's the toebox where it differs from Wildcross and SenseRide4. Really bummed me, although I still use it for short trail and commuting runs.
@edwinalday99803 жыл бұрын
maybe it's different on different sizes because when i tried them in store, toe box was ok but pressing to much on my instep. i went for peregrine instead
@nathanwoodcock37443 жыл бұрын
Been a speedgoat guy for a few years, got a pair of these and put them through some very muddy marsh trails in coastal GA. Felt like my right foot was being squeezed on the side at first, little bit uncomfortable but it went away as I progressed. Hoping it was just part of the break in process.

Haha was about to say those look familiar from your previous video. My former college roommate is a runner, and she would always try to dirty her new shoes immediately, “I can’t trust people who have clean running shoes while running” or something like that 😆

Maybe the makers of the upper didn’t think that their consumers would go swimming 😅
