I just got the Race S under the Christmas tree and started using it same day. It replaced a forerunner 245. I'm quite happy with my decision. I find the hr pretty on par with the 245. I was able to check out a Pace Pro and didn't like the cheap feel and hated the band it comes with. With the 10% welcome discount Suunto offers I saved $68 over the Coros, which was nice.
@UltraTrailSteven5 күн бұрын
Thats a nice savings! Glad you like it!

Thanks for the comparison, Steven! I'd really love to get a lot more of that advertized opinion and less of the facts that I can read on the company websites. Might be a slippier road but actually more interesting and inspiring, IMHO. BTW, the processor should not have any role in the crispness of the displays. Cheers!
@UltraTrailSteven2 күн бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. When I spoke directly with COROS at The Running Event, they mentioned they felt the processor affected the crispness. That's why I mentioned that.

Great review! The Pace Pro looks nice! I currently have the Apex Pro (V1), and am considering an upgrade. However, I’m not sure if it’ll make it through a mountain 100 at full GPS (and potentially running a GPX file, too) without charging. Both my Apex and Apex Pro have done it.
@UltraTrailSteven5 күн бұрын
Yeah I guess it depends how long it would take. You could always run in all systems on.

Hey Steven, came across your channel and really love it! Thank you for the time you put into it! It’s time for me to replace my fenix 5X. Suunto is the one I’ll buy because of zonesense. So it’s either race or race s. Due to my ageing eyes I tend towards race original because of the larger display. Do you think the 16 GB is enough for maps or should I go for the race s with 32 GB? All the best from Germany👍
@UltraTrailSteven6 күн бұрын
Thanks! The Race is a great watch and 16 GB is a lot of space. As you saw in this video, the entire state of Colorado was 1.29 GB’s. Looking at Germany in the Suunto App, most of the regions are a couple hundred MB’s, so should be plenty of storage for you.
@franzmostermann48376 күн бұрын
@ Thank you very much for your quick answer! Then I think I’ll go for the 16 Gb which is noticeably cheaper than the titanium. Got a new subscriber for your channel….

bonjour, prenez la race S sans hésiter si vous achetez suunto
@franzmostermann48375 күн бұрын
@@eagle63-94 Merci beaucoup. Meilleures salutations d’Allemagne!

The coros sounds better but my pace 3 broke within a month. Granted i think i hit it on something while working but the glass cracked badly. It still works but the elevation is all wanky now. Makes me scared to spend even more on one. Lol. Granted i could buy a screen protector next time i guess.. i don't know though..those suunto's looks sexy as hell.

I'm leaning towards Suunto for the design and durable material used. Not that Coros isn't durable, plastics are durable, but for everyday use metal watchface on the Suunto looks much more elegant. Though yes, technicaly speaking, Coros seems to be better. Great comparison video btw. And can you confirm that Suunto Race S storage can be used for music? And can it connect to bluetooth headphones or earbuds?
@UltraTrailSteven5 күн бұрын
Yes it can pair to Bluetooth headphones. I’m not 100% on music storage. On the Suunto website it says “control music with your watch” and then it says for storage “for offline map storage”
@ActiveIdeas6 күн бұрын
Interested about the HR data, did you get a chance to actually compare them to a chest strap? Nice video 🌟
@UltraTrailSteven6 күн бұрын
Not yet. The coros HR sensor has proven to be pretty darn accurate when compared to a chest strap, and the Suunto has not. This new sensor on the Suunto is better, but still not great
@mikes11725 күн бұрын
I have neither I have the Suunto Race, bigger battery, bigger screen, plenty fast, GPS accuracy on the mark. I'm not running, so heart rate, who knows, seems good to me though. I have a Garmin 255 Music, functionality, I love the extra software (developer support), but the battery is crap, thing feels like cheap plastic. Personally, Garmin software is the best/better but to make you really be proud of your watch you need to spend north of $400+ to get that experience. Maybe, I should haven't both either of these watches and bought the Instinct 3 or a Fenix, who knows. I can say for sure, the weight of my Race is great, feels like a watch, the scroll wheel is way better than buttons alone. Personally, I like watches, so it would be easy to just keep buying another one of these type of watches every 6 months, since the tech continually evolves. In the end, we all have ran, played, jumped and never knew any of these details before, so what's really so critical NOW to have all of the analytics. I'm not training for anything, for me its just nice to know I actually got out of my house and did a few miles of something and nice to know isn't so easy to get turned around, if I was in some remote location with unfamiliar trails. Certainly either of these will do the job, the Race S, is just IMHO going to look better on your wrist than all plastic.
